Scientific Games Transforms Lotto New Zealand's Retail and Digital Landscape

Transforming the Future of Lotto New Zealand

In a significant advancement for the lottery sector, Scientific Games has announced the successful conversion of systems technology for Lotto New Zealand. This initiative modernizes digital and retail operations across an extensive network of 1,100 lottery retailers, setting the tone for ongoing transformation and enhanced player experiences into the future.

The overhaul, delivered through the Momentum ecosystem, integrates various advanced technologies and tools provided by Scientific Games. The key components of this update include the SYMPHONY central gaming system, WAVE Contour retail point-of-sale terminals, and the SG PAM player account management system. Additionally, this upgrade leverages the company's patented SciTrak technology and the gem|Suite lottery retail management system, creating a cohesive and innovative operating environment.

Among the upgrades, the SG Content Hub stands out, which offers Lotto New Zealand access to a wide array of premium digital games developed by both SG Studios and other partner studios. This means that players can expect a richer gaming experience from the lottery, reflecting the ever-evolving landscape of gaming entertainment.

The complexity of transitioning from Lotto New Zealand's previous legacy systems to the new setup involved multiple database migrations and the integration of third-party systems. Over a two-year period, Scientific Games collaborated closely with Lotto New Zealand and its retailers to meticulously plan the rollout, aiming for a seamless go-live experience. This strategic planning ensures that Lotto New Zealand is well-positioned for future omnichannel growth and player-focused innovations.

Jason Delamore, the CEO of Lotto New Zealand, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “We have modernized not only our digital and retail platforms but also the method we deliver game entertainment. This modernization paves the way for future transformations and exceptional player experiences.” Delamore emphasized the positive impact of this technology upgrade on their players, retailers, and beneficiaries across New Zealand.

Scientific Games' CEO, Patrick McHugh, commended Lotto New Zealand's leadership and vision, thanking his global team for their unwavering commitment to ensuring this successful systems conversion. “The technology upgrade was indeed a global endeavor, providing a blueprint for other projects we are currently managing for lottery clients worldwide,” he remarked.

Supporting these innovative advancements, the Momentum ecosystem is now actively contributing to lotteries across North America, Europe, and Oceania. This platform delivers interconnected technologies and services designed to modernize operations, enhance player engagement, and maximize returns to community-focused initiatives.

In collaboration with Datacom, the largest IT consultancy in New Zealand, Scientific Games installed point-of-sale terminals across retail outlets while offering essential data center hosting services for the central system infrastructure. Datacom's Chief Executive Officer, Greg Davidson, emphasized the importance of local partnerships in executing this major technology upgrade, affirming their commitment to providing secure and scalable systems for retailers and players alike.

Scientific Games has proudly served as the exclusive provider of Instant Kiwi games for Lotto New Zealand since 1989. With a presence in 50 countries, the company holds the title of the world’s largest lottery games provider and is recognized as a leader in digital lottery solutions. Notably, it is one of the first lottery companies to be certified by the World Lottery Association as a Responsible Gaming Supplier. The company's commitment to maintaining a standard of safety and responsible gambling is evident in its approach to technology and player entertainment.

As technological advancements continue to reshape the landscape of gaming and lotteries, Lotto New Zealand's upgrade represents a significant step forward. With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and community contributions, the future of Lotto New Zealand looks bright, positioning it to enhance player experiences and strengthen its contributions to New Zealand society.
