Timee Partners with Fukui Prefecture to Promote Industrial Development

Timee's Partnership with Fukui Prefecture

Timee, the innovative service provider of flexible work solutions, has recently signed a collaboration agreement with Fukui Prefecture and the Fukui Prefectural Chamber of Commerce. This partnership aims to address industrial growth and tackle workforce shortages in the region.

Fukui Prefecture’s Rich Landscape

Strategically nestled on the Sea of Japan side of Honshu, Fukui Prefecture is renowned for its beautiful landscapes and rich historical heritage. The area is home to numerous tourist attractions, including the Dinosaur Museum and the scenic cliffs of Tojinbo, drawing numerous visitors throughout the year. Aside from its rich tourism potential, Fukui is also recognized for its robust manufacturing industry, most notably in eyewear production, which accounts for over 90% of Japan's production share. Recently, the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen has significantly increased accessibility, making it easier for tourists and businesses alike to engage with the region, thus promoting economic development.

Addressing Labor Shortages

Despite these advantages, Fukui Prefecture faces a challenging labor market. As of April 2022, the region boasted the highest job availability ratio in Japan, having maintained this leading position for 85 consecutive months. However, the demographic shift caused by an aging population has led to critical labor shortages, particularly affecting the younger workforce. There has been a notable decrease in job seekers under 34 years old, while the number of those aged 65 and older seeking work has been steadily increasing. This scenario has intensified the urgency to secure a reliable labor force to support local businesses effectively.

The Role of Timee

In light of these challenges, Timee is committed to leveraging its platform to foster new employment opportunities and attract a diverse range of workers to reinforce regional vitality. The newly signed tripartite agreement is aligned with Timee’s mission to create an infrastructure that broadens life's possibilities through work. By addressing the specific needs and challenges of Fukui's industries, Timee aims to contribute significantly to regional development and resolve local workforce issues.

Key Initiatives Under the Agreement

Under this collaboration, Timee, Fukui Prefecture, and the Fukui Prefectural Chamber of Commerce will provide various support systems for businesses and workers in the region. The initiatives include:
  • - Introducing Spot Work: Offering guidance to local businesses through seminars and proposals for the implementation of ‘Spot Work’ solutions.
  • - Encouraging Diverse Work Styles: Promoting the flexibility of ‘Spot Work,’ which allows workers to choose their location and working hours, thereby activating the region’s potential workforce and creating new job opportunities.

Timee’s Commitment to Local Governments

Over the years, Timee has established partnerships with 25 prefectures and 50 local governments across Japan, making this collaboration with Fukui Prefecture the 51st of its kind. Such partnerships are critical as they affirm Timee's commitment to working alongside local authorities to tackle employment issues and bolster local economies effectively.
