Ice Cream Park 2026 at Takanawa Gateway City
From July 30 to August 4, 2026, Takanawa Gateway City will host the highly anticipated popup event, "Ice Cream Park 2026," produced by HAPPO-EN in collaboration with the Takanawa Gateway Area Management Association. Following last year's success, this gathering promises to transform the urban landscape into a refreshing oasis during the sweltering summer, showcasing an impressive selection of over 70 unique ice cream flavors sourced from regions across Japan.
A Unique Experience Awaits
This year's event will once again bring together a variety of regional specialties, allowing visitors to indulge in locally beloved ice creams that are not easily found in the Tokyo area. The event will take place at Gateway Studio within the Takanawa Gateway City, a bustling hub connecting cultural and historical elements with modern innovation. Visitors can expect to taste flavors that embody the essence of each participating region.
In addition to the ice cream extravaganza, a special weekend event, the "Nasu-Shiobara Mini-Market," will be held on August 1 and 2. This market will feature fresh produce and regional delicacies from Nasu Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, with goods transported via the innovative "Hako-byun" rail service.
Special Highlights: Ice Cream Collection
Exciting Regional Flavors
Over the event's duration, attendees can expect a rotating selection of 30 distinct ice cream varieties, inspired by local flavors and traditions, with a tally exceeding 70 options. Here are some highlights:
- - Ice Dorian (Akita): A nostalgic flavor with a rich creamy base, produced by Komatsuya, longstanding for over 100 years. Its unique name originates from a childhood dessert memory linking it to durian fruit.
- - Apple Sorbet (Fukushima): Made from fresh Aomori apples, this classically loved sorbet has been a staple since 1981, serving as a beloved dessert for generations.
- - Marga Gelato (Ishikawa): Known for award-winning flavors, Marga Gelato will showcase various unique gelato options, including the renowned "Pistachio Sorbet" and other artisanal creations.
- - Ice Cream Manju (Mie): A unique treat comprising sweet red bean paste enveloped in milk ice cream—a nostalgic, frozen dessert loved by many.
Nasu Shiobara Mini-Market
The Nasu Shiobara Mini-Market promises to elevate the experience further with fresh ingredients shipped directly to the event from Tochigi Prefecture. Visitors will have access to seasonal vegetables and fruits, reflecting the local agricultural identity.
Supporting Local Culture through Ice Cream
HAPPO-EN's commitment extends beyond just providing a delightful sweet treat; it aims to foster cultural exchange through food. By creating a platform for regional specialties to be shared, Takanawa Gateway City will emerge as a significant cultural nexus, enhancing local communities' identities.
