Discovering the Magic of Daily Fables
The YUGEN Gallery FUKUOKA is set to host an intriguing group exhibition titled
Daily Fables, running from October 25 to November 13, 2025. Situated in the heart of Fukuoka, this exhibition presents a unique opportunity to delve into the whimsical realms of art that blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
The exhibition features four talented artists:
Agopan,
Takahiro Yumisashi,
Yoshisako Tsubasa, and
Kameko Kameo, all curated by Hirotaka Noma. Each artist brings a distinct perspective to their craft, creating an enchanting experience that engages the audience.
Artists and Their Unique Visions
Agopan
Agopan, also known as the “Panda Artist,” is known for embedding panda motifs into public transportation and commercial art. His work draws inspiration from Edo period paintings, showcasing a vibrant yet elegant approach to modern illustration. Through his art, Agopan invites viewers to reflect on everyday settings transformed by playful creativity.
Takahiro Yumisashi
Takahiro Yumisashi redefines traditional Japanese themes by transforming fearsome demons into endearing pop culture characters. His work encapsulates a Japanese aesthetic that contemplates the unknown while employing bold colors and forms. In Yumisashi's eyes, even terrifying subjects harbor their own charm and allure.
Yoshisako Tsubasa
Yoshisako Tsubasa uses painting techniques to introduce rabbits concealed within landscapes, merging the ordinary with elements of fable. His artwork celebrates the magic hidden in daily life, confronting the viewer with aspects that are often overlooked.
Kameko Kameo
Kameko Kameo, influenced by manga, anime, and subculture, explores emotional depths through monochromatic themes. The characters he presents might seem innocent, yet they carry a mysterious aura that evokes curiosity about their stories.
Thematic Essence of the Exhibition
The core theme of
Daily Fables is to explore the intersection of reality and fiction through the iconic characters created by these artists. The exhibition comprises about 20 flat works that express the fable-like aspects present in our everyday lives. Each artist’s distinct style juxtaposes vividly against the others, providing spectators a rich tapestry of contrasts, from minimalist monochromes to intense color palettes.
