Pylontech Launches Mass Production of New 588Ah and 601Ah LFP Cells for Energy Storage Systems

Pylontech Initiates Mass Production of 588Ah and 601Ah LFP Cells

On September 21, Pylontech, a prominent player in the energy storage sector, officially kicked off the mass production of its prismatic LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells with capacities of 588 Ah and 601 Ah at its facility in Hefei, China. This significant move marks another milestone in Pylontech's ongoing commitment to establish a stronger foothold in the large-scale energy storage market.

The new LFP cells have been developed for large energy storage systems, characterized by their high level of safety, long cycle life, and impressive energy efficiency. Pylontech has already exceeded a cumulative production capacity of over 100 MWh for these cells, further illustrating its readiness to supply these batteries on a large scale. The new cells will also be used in the upcoming generation of energy storage systems, known as PyOcean, which will have capacities of 6.25 MWh and 8 MWh, slated for various projects.

Pylontech has been steadily reinforcing its market position, with its solutions increasingly adopted in numerous major investments both within China and internationally. Notable projects include a 120 MW energy storage facility with a capacity of 240 MWh in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, and a standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with 200 MW and 400 MWh capacity located in Ningxia. These deployments not only bolster Pylontech’s credibility but also provide invaluable experience in the delivery and implementation of large-scale energy storage systems.

The newly launched cells boast enhanced specifications in key areas such as capacity, energy density, cycle life, and efficiency. For example, the 601 Ah cell has an energy density of 425.8 Wh/l, a cycle life exceeding 12,000 cycles, and an energy efficiency reaching 96.5%. The increased capacity of these cells allows for a reduction in the number of cells and connections needed within an energy storage system, enabling a more compact design, simplifying installation, and reducing overall costs throughout the lifecycle.

The production of these new cells takes place at Pylontech’s Hefei facility, which is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing systems and equipment. Key production stages are fully automated, utilizing over 120 industrial robots and 180 smart manufacturing devices. The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) captures process and quality data at each stage of production, ensuring complete traceability of all cells along with continuous quality monitoring.

As mass production of the 588 Ah and 601 Ah cells commences, Pylontech plans to continue enhancing its cell technology and production solutions to effectively meet the growing global demand for large-scale energy storage solutions. This proactive approach positions Pylontech as a leader in the renewable energy storage sector, paving the way for a more sustainable future in energy management.
