Compleat® Launches First Song Celebrating Tube-Fed Children with Elmo from Sesame Street
Compleat® Launches First-Ever Song Celebrating Tube-Fed Children
Compleat®, renowned for its leadership in tube feeding nutrition, has recently premiered an original song titled "What Is Better Than How." This marks a significant milestone as it is the first-ever tune focused on celebrating children who rely on tube feeding. The song features the beloved character Elmo from Sesame Street, who brings warmth and curiosity to the message that what truly matters is that children receive the nourishment they need, rather than the method through which they eat.
This initiative aims to raise awareness and promote understanding around tube feeding, a necessity for many children yet often surrounded by misconceptions. With hundreds of thousands in the U.S. relying on this form of nutrition, the tube feeding community frequently feels overlooked and isolated. Through this campaign, Compleat® seeks to shine a light on these individuals and their unique journeys.
Director of Marketing for Compleat at Nestlé Health Science, Priyanka Malhotra, shared, "Every child deserves recognition not based on how they eat but on who they are." By partnering with Elmo, a character recognized globally, Compleat aims to cultivate a deeper cultural understanding of tube feeding, underscoring its importance and normalizing the narrative.
In the song and accompanying video production by Accompany Creative, Elmo interacts with families during meal times, showcasing the diverse methods through which children consume nutrition—from playing games and sharing laughter to utilizing various feeding apparatuses. The families depicted in the video openly share their everyday realities, providing authentic representation and encouraging empathy and understanding among viewers.
The central theme of the song emphasizes that nourishment is vital, regardless of whether one eats with a fork, a spoon, or a tube. The powerful message is clear: acceptance and love matter more than the mode of consumption.
Jennifer Ahearn, Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Partnerships at Sesame Workshop, remarked, "We’re proud to collaborate with Compleat on this initiative. It highlights the tube feeding community with a heartfelt story that encourages understanding and acceptance."
Starting August 5, the song will be accessible on Compleat.com/WhatIsBetterThanHow, Spotify, YouTube, and Compleat's various social media platforms. Families also have the opportunity to personalize their experience by creating custom verses reflecting their own feeding journeys.
Compleat® envisions this campaign as an extension of their commitment to advocacy. By engaging deeply with the community, they aspire to act boldly in support of those reliant on tube feeding, affirming their belief that real impact arises when brands listen, engage, and stand alongside families in need.
In addition to the song release, the Nestlé Health Science Foundation has pledged a $50,000 grant through their employee engagement program to benefit Sesame Workshop. Compleat® aims to strengthen its connections with the tube-feeding community further through strategic partnerships with organizations, such as the Oley Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
