XKL Introduces MediaLight Line for 100/400/800G Optical Networking Expansion

XKL Unveils MediaLight Product Line for Enhanced Optical Networking

XKL, a leading provider of optical network solutions, has announced the introduction of its MediaLight product line, comprising innovative platforms designed to meet the increasing demands of optical networking. The launch, which took place on August 4, 2026, highlights two significant products: the MediaLight Xponder and the MediaLight Muxponder. Both of these solutions are tailored for configurations that support capacities of up to 4.8T while ensuring compatibility with various optical components.

Features of MediaLight Products

1. MediaLight Xponder: This product integrates both media conversion and transponder functionalities, allowing for streamlined transitions between 100G and 400G. It simplifies operations and reduces costs, featuring 24 license-free QSFP-DD/QSFP28 transceiver ports housed in a single 1RU chassis.
- Converts traffic across different transceiver types and lane formats, supporting both single-lane and four-lane operations.
- Capable of accommodating Bright, ZR, and ZR+ transceivers for long-haul transport.
- Multi-degree node capability enabled with four OSC channels.
- Optional integrated OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) facilitates fiber break localization and proactive monitoring.

2. MediaLight Muxponder: This high-density device is designed for aggregation of 100G and 400G links with a robust capacity of up to 4.8T.
- Features the same 24 license-free transceiver ports in a compact 1RU chassis, along with 12 channel mux/demux functionality supporting multiple wavelengths on a single fiber pair.
- Provides front-panel access for wave and client optics, and integrates an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) alongside an expansion port for further channel scalability.

Market Demand and Industry Growth

The announcement comes at a time when the optical networking sector is experiencing exponential growth, driven by heightened bandwidth requirements from hyperscalers, emerging cloud services, data center operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and industries including research and education. Industry analysts predict a significant 30% annual growth rate for coherent pluggable transceivers, with shipments of 800GbE transceivers expected to double in the coming years.

As operational speed and efficiency become paramount, the MediaLight line addresses the crucial needs for speed-of-deployment and user-friendly operations. With many existing transceivers often discarded as networks upgrade, the MediaLight line also emphasizes sustainability, allowing for the repurposing and reusability of LR4 transceivers.

Availability

Both MediaLight products are currently available for ordering and are set to commence shipping in 2026. Interested parties can schedule meetings to explore the MediaLight line and other XKL offerings by contacting the company directly via their provided email.
