Allstate Announces Christian Lown as Chief Financial Officer

In a significant leadership change, Allstate Corporation has named Christian (Chris) Lown as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective August 3, 2026. This appointment marks a critical moment for the company, reinforcing its dedication to enhancing market share in the Property-Liability sector and delivering robust customer protection.

Tom Wilson, the Chair, President, and CEO of Allstate, expressed confidence in Lown’s capabilities, stating that his extensive knowledge in capital markets will play an instrumental role in facilitating continued growth for the organization. Wilson highlighted Lown's experience as pivotal in navigating the company through both growth and transformation during fluctuating market conditions.

Lown comes to Allstate with a wealth of expertise, having spent over 25 years in senior leadership roles across various financial institutions. Most recently, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of CoStar Group, where he was responsible for finance, investor relations, business development, and facilities management. Before that role, he held similar positions at Freddie Mac and Navient Corporation and garnered experience in senior finance at prominent investment firms such as Morgan Stanley and UBS.

A graduate of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, Lown holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Lynchburg. His academic background complements his professional experience, providing a strong foundation for his role at Allstate.

Lown assumes the role previously held by Jess Merten, who was appointed President of Property-Liability in October 2025 after serving as Allstate’s CFO. John Dugenske, the President of Investments and Corporate Strategy, served as interim CFO and will continue until Lown officially begins.
