Discovering Strength Through Nature and Challenge
On November 16, 2025, a unique event combining agriculture and martial arts will take place in Katori, Chiba, led by the acclaimed former PRIDE welterweight champion, Kazuo Misaki. This initiative by You Make Foundation aims to foster a sense of self-worth and vitality among young individuals living in urban environments by connecting them with nature, friends, and challenges.
Participants, primarily high school and middle school students under the age of 21, will have the opportunity to engage in various activities throughout the day. This event is free of charge and aims to provide a platform for young people to discover their own capabilities through hands-on experiences.
Event Schedule
- - 9:00 AM: Meet at You Make's office in Nihonbashi Hamacho and depart.
- - 10:30 AM: Experience martial arts at Misaki's dojo.
- - 12:00 PM: Enjoy sweet potato digging activities.
- - 1:00 PM: Join a BBQ lunch for some social interaction.
- - 3:30 PM: Begin the return journey.
- - 5:00 PM: Arrive back at You Make's office.
- - 6:00 PM: Reflect on the day and cleanup before departure.
Throughout the day, participants will engage in enjoyable, challenging activities that are designed to instill a sense of achievement and community. The essence of both agricultural work and martial arts lies in the unpredictability of the journey; both fields are filled with challenges that require persistence and resilience.
You Make Foundation emphasizes that the primary goal of this experience is to help young individuals reclaim a sense of accomplishment and encourage personal growth. By getting their hands muddy in the soil, moving their bodies, and supporting each other, youth can cultivate abilities that academic classrooms often do not provide. The challenges faced in farming and martial arts teach valuable lessons about perseverance.
A Message from You Make
At You Make, we are committed to providing diverse support activities that allow children and young people to learn, express themselves, and live authentically. Our ongoing experiences are aimed at helping youth nurture a feeling of agency in their lives. We believe that encountering and overcoming difficulties, whether in grappling with the earth or sparring in martial arts, can significantly empower participants.
We hope this event inspires participants to take that first step toward believing in themselves.

You Make Foundation remains dedicated to supporting youth through various initiatives, including art support for children with disabilities, free tutoring, partnerships with shelters, and event planning across the domains of welfare, education, experience, and expression.
