CSL Behring recently announced the appointment of Edward Wright as the new President and CEO of its Japan operations, effective from October 19, 2026. Wright's extensive skill set encompasses commercial strategy, business development, market access, and governmental affairs, making him a well-rounded leader in the healthcare landscape. His deep understanding of the Japanese medical system, paired with his insights into policy and regulatory environments, will serve as a significant asset for CSL Behring Japan. Previously, he held the position of General Manager and CEO at Clinigen Group plc, where he also managed operations in South Korea, demonstrating his regional expertise.
Before his tenure at Clinigen, Wright had significant roles at Bayer and Novartis, focusing on specialty care and strategic partnerships. Moreover, he began his career as a science officer at the British Embassy in Japan, where he gained invaluable insights into the life sciences sector. His early experiences and professional journey provide him with a unique perspective on the industry's nuances.
Academically, Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the prestigious University of Oxford. He further advanced his education with a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, an MBA from INSEAD, and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
