Huawei Unveils AI-Powered Green Site and AIDC Solutions for Network Operators

Huawei Unveils AI-Powered Green Site and AIDC Solutions

During the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Huawei Digital Power's Vice President, Bob He, unveiled groundbreaking AI-driven solutions targeted at operators aiming for carbon-neutral networks. These innovations are designed to enhance AI computing capabilities, paving the way for a low-carbon transformation in the age of the agentic internet.

As the world becomes increasingly intelligent, the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) leads to explosive data traffic, presenting unique challenges for power supplies at network sites. Huawei's cutting-edge Green Site is the first of its kind, employing end-to-end intelligent synergy that not only bolsters network resilience but also significantly reduces operational electricity costs. This transformation allows operators to turn their energy storage assets into new revenue streams.

Enhancements in Power Backup and Fuel Efficiency

One of the key features of the new system is the iBackup technology, which effectively doubles backup time and increases power supply availability to 99.9%. For instance, in Kuwait, the backup duration was extended from three to six hours, ensuring business continuity in the event of power outages. Moreover, the system cleverly integrates intelligent algorithms that forecast weather, generation, and load patterns, facilitating collaborative planning involving photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy storage, and generators. In Southern Africa, users have reported a remarkable 75% reduction in fuel consumption, leading to savings of over $10,000 and a decrease in carbon emissions by 18 tons annually per site.

Transforming Costs into Revenue

Huawei's virtual power plant solution allows operators’ energy storage resources to participate in the electricity market, generating additional income. In Northern Europe, clients using this technology have seen their annual revenues rise by more than €2,000 per location.

AIDC Solutions Evolved

As we advance into an era of intelligent computing, the demand for processing power motivates the development of AI Data Center (AIDC) facilities. However, this demand also raises new challenges surrounding reliability, energy consumption, and delivery consistency. Huawei's AIDC solution redefines the four core connections: power supply, cooling, energy storage, and operational processes. This holistic approach aims to deliver a highly reliable, energy-efficient, and seamlessly integrated AIDC solution while maximizing watt tokens in the age of AI.

In terms of power supply innovations, Huawei has designed an integrated PowerPOD solution characterized by high density and efficiency. This solution streamlines swift AIDC delivery by standardizing product connections that optimize power supply. On the cooling side, innovations in chip heat dissipation to the external environment have led to the development of efficient, reliable, and intelligently integrated IT-POD solutions that ensure dependable cooling for AIDs.

Leveraging AI for Operational Excellence

AI technologies are also revolutionizing data center operations, enhancing AIDC safety and energy efficiency throughout their lifecycle. Predictive maintenance has been made possible with AI's fault prediction and identification capabilities. This shift helps move from reactive responses to proactive maintenance strategies, effectively enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Furthermore, AI enables intelligent coordination and optimization of cooling and power supply, significantly reducing energy consumption.

Bob He stated that Huawei will fully leverage its technological advancements in the sectors of energy, wireless networking, and service convergence. The aim is to assist operators in building more flexible, reliable, and greener ICT energy infrastructure, thereby accelerating intelligent transformation in this AI-driven era and ensuring sustained business success.
