Indigenized Energy Welcomes Lorilee J. Morsette as New COO to Drive Sustainable Initiatives

Indigenized Energy Names Lorilee J. Morsette as COO

Indigenized Energy proudly announces the appointment of Lorilee J. Morsette, MS, THRP, as their new Chief Operating Officer (COO). This Native-led organization is dedicated to building sustainable solar energy systems in collaboration with Tribes across the United States. Morsette, who has an extensive background in finance, management, and tribal governance, will play a crucial role in the company's ongoing efforts to scale its impact and enhance tribal autonomy.

Morsette, a member of the Suquamish and Chippewa-Cree tribes from Rocky Boy, Montana, has previously held significant positions, including President of National Accounts for Tribal Markets at Mutual of America Financial Group. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, overseeing human resources for nearly 600 employees at the Nisqually Indian Tribe in Olympia, Washington. Her appointment as COO marks a significant milestone, especially for Native women in leadership, who represent a small percentage of C-suite roles in both finance and the solar industry.

As COO at Indigenized Energy, Morsette will focus on several key areas, including program delivery, financial management, human resources, and technology. Her role is designed to ensure operational excellence and drive the implementation of sustainable energy projects. This newly established position underscores the organization's commitment to enhancing its impact in 2025 and beyond.

In April, Indigenized Energy was awarded a staggering $135.5 million in Solar for All funding by the EPA, in collaboration with partners such as the MHA Nation-Three Affiliated Tribes and the Tribal Renewable Energy Coalition. This funding initiative aims to further support tribal sovereignty, economic growth, and environmental stewardship.

Morsette expressed her enthusiasm about joining the organization, stating, "This position allows me to merge my experience in financial services with my unwavering dedication to advancing opportunities for Native Americans. Indigenized Energy embodies a spirit of hope, guided by our collective values and commitment to a future where all voices are heard and respected."

Cody Two Bears, the Founder and CEO of Indigenized Energy, echoed similar sentiments regarding Morsette's appointment. He highlighted the importance of finding someone whose expertise aligns perfectly with the organization's values and mission. By broadening their search for leadership, they were fortunate to connect with Morsette exactly at the right time, which signifies both good fortune and a shared vision moving forward.

Indigenized Energy's ongoing mission revolves around developing innovative, community-focused energy solutions. The organization is dedicated to supporting tribal autonomy, fostering economic development, and ensuring environmental stewardship through clean energy initiatives.

In summary, Lorilee J. Morsette’s arrival as Chief Operating Officer is a powerful move for Indigenized Energy and a reflection of the potential for Native leadership in the renewable energy sector. The combination of her experience, commitment, and the organization's bold vision promises a brighter, sustainable future for tribal communities across the nation.
