Explore Innovative Woodwork at Musashino Art University’s 'ONE WEEK' Pop-Up Store in Tokyo

Experience Creativity at 'ONE WEEK'

From June 25 to June 28, 2025, the Musashino Art University, located in Koganei, Tokyo, will host a captivating pop-up store titled 'ONE WEEK' at the MUJIcom on the Ichigaya campus. This event showcases the impressive work of fourth-year students from the Craft Design Course within the Department of Industrial and Craft Design.

The initiative aims to utilize the woodworking skills these students have honed throughout their three years of university studies. It allows them to turn innovative ideas into tangible products, while contemplating the social implications of their creations. This year marks the project's fourth iteration, continuing to combine both an online shop and an on-campus exhibition. Students will exhibit not only their crafted items but also engage with customers both online and in-person.

The students spent roughly three months preparing for this project, splitting their time between the production of their items and the sales strategies needed for the event. In the first half, they focused on how to efficiently produce one item per week, a task that involved serious consideration of ideation, production methods, and establishing a production system.

During the second half, the goal was to develop a platform to reach audiences beyond the campus, employing an e-commerce site to promote their work. This phase emphasized logistical planning, including production management, order processing, and shipping methods, culminating in continuous efforts to mass-produce their pieces.

Showcased Works

At the exhibition, 15 students will present a broad variety of wooden products ranging from furniture to fashion accessories and cutlery. Attendees can look forward to enjoying the warmth of wood paired with the creative insights of the students.
