This competition, which first began in 2007, has grown to become one of the largest and most respected startup events in Japan, celebrating its 19th edition in 2025.

About IVS2025 LAUNCHPAD KYOTO


Since its inception, the IVS LAUNCHPAD has seen over 5,000 companies apply, with more than 60 companies successfully exiting and over 40 raising more than 1 billion yen in funding. It has earned a reputation as a gateway for the next generation of entrepreneurs, showcasing innovative ideas and business models from across Japan.

Selected finalists will present their ideas in front of a distinguished panel of judges consisting of investors, executives, and entrepreneurs, competing for recognition and prizes. Each startup has six minutes to showcase their product and envision a brighter future through their innovations.

This year, the IVS LAUNCHPAD has partnered with Kyoto Prefecture to support startups competing on a global scale through the award titled the "Startup Kyoto International Award," which will grant the winner a cash prize of 10 million yen.

Presenter Profile


Born in July 1998 in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, Ikeda spent his youth aspiring to be a professional baseball player. However, his journey took a turn when he became interested in international cooperation while attending university and engaged in environmental activities in the Federated States of Micronesia. After graduating, he joined Borderless Japan and later founded Hachidori Solar with the mission of creating a future powered by renewable energy. Today, he is actively driving innovative business development that leverages energy and technology to democratize energy infrastructure and address disparities.
