A Unique Bonsai Experience at Barneys New York

For a limited time, TRADMAN’S BONSAI is taking center stage at Barneys New York’s Roppongi store, offering a distinctive encounter where art and nature intertwine. This collaboration between Barneys Japan, led by CEO Penny Luo, and Matsubaya Corporation, under the leadership of CEO Teppei Kojima, showcases a curated selection of bonsai that’s not just an art form but a living expression of culture.

TRADMAN’S BONSAI: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

TRADMAN’S BONSAI is a collective of bonsai artists that skillfully blends Japan’s traditional bonsai culture with contemporary aesthetics, drawing attention from art enthusiasts both domestically and internationally. Their creations are celebrated as 'living art,' adding a fresh perspective to interior design and lifestyle.

The limited-time store at Barneys New York features an impressive array of bonsai works, from large pieces valued up to 30 million yen to more affordable, compact designs. Notable among the selections is the unique Juniper known for its swirling shari (deadwood), which beautifully contrasts life and death through its visual storytelling.

Highlights of the Exhibit

The Juniper bonsai stands out with its distinctive swirling shari, resembling smoke rising into the air. With its rough shari and the vibrant presence of water absorption, it tells a powerful story of resilience in nature. The intricate patterns of its trunk come together to form a striking shape, embodying the spirit of growth amidst life’s challenges.

In addition to the stunning bonsai displays, visitors can find original TRADMAN’S BONSAI merchandise, including T-shirts and accessories. This offers a chance to take a piece of this unique experience home.
