Tom Golisano's Philanthropic Expansion in Pediatric Care
Rochester, N.Y., December 29, 2025 — Philanthropist and entrepreneur Tom Golisano has made headlines with his announcement of a substantial investment totaling $100 million in two additional children's hospitals. This investment will be divided equally, with $50 million allocated to Arkansas Children's in Little Rock, Arkansas, and $50 million to Wellstar Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. With these contributions, the Golisano Children's Alliance will now encompass 12 children's hospitals across the United States.
The Golisano Children's Alliance represents a collaborative network of children's hospitals that share a mission of enhancing pediatric healthcare accessibility and quality. With Golisano's funding, each hospital will be able to enhance its clinical programs, expand access to care, and address the specific needs of families and children within their regions.
As part of this initiative, Arkansas Children's Hospital will be renamed the Arkansas Children's Golisano Campus, while Wellstar will now be known as the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia. This naming reinforces the strong ties and shared commitment to improving pediatric care in their respective communities.
Tom Golisano emphasized the critical role that children’s hospitals play in shaping community health. He stated, “Children's hospitals are essential to the health and future of our communities, and each one serves families with unique needs and challenges.” Through his investments, Golisano acknowledges the dedication of both Arkansas Children's and Wellstar Children's Hospital in advancing pediatric care and their commitment to ongoing innovation.
The president and CEO of Arkansas Children’s, Marcy Doderer, highlighted the hospital's ongoing expansion plans, which aim to meet the growing child health needs. Doderer remarked, “The demand for services continues to change and grow—and we are committed to providing the best care, research, and outcomes for the patients we serve.” The hospital is recognized as an independent pediatric health system that serves not just Arkansas but also the broader heartland region with comprehensive pediatric care.
Meanwhile, Ketul J. Patel, president and CEO of Wellstar Health System, expressed gratitude for Golisano’s transformative support, referring to it as a vital investment in the quality of health services available to the children and families of Georgia. Patel stated, “Thanks to the power of philanthropy, we can expand the lasting impact of compassionate, innovative care.” Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital stands as the centerpiece for pediatric excellence within the Wellstar network.
Tom Golisano’s philanthropic journey over the years has seen him contribute over $1 billion to various causes, particularly focusing on education and healthcare. Notably, the Golisano Children's Alliance, which he launched earlier this year, aims to bring together 40 children's hospitals in the coming years, thereby enhancing pediatric care through strategic funding and collaboration. Additional partnerships with hospitals are expected to unfold in 2026.
The establishment of the Golisano Children's Alliance paves the way for improved pediatric healthcare delivery across the nation, ensuring that children and families have access to high-quality medical services within their communities.
