Trina Storage Introduces Advanced Energy Storage System to Accelerate Energy Transition in Saudi Arabia
Trina Storage showcased its cutting-edge energy storage technology at the Solar & Storage Live KSA event, presenting the Elementa 3 platform, boasting a capacity of 6.25 MWh. This state-of-the-art storage system is designed to enhance energy density, operational safety, and cost efficiency, addressing the growing energy needs in the Middle East.
The Elementa 3 employs 587 Ah cells, allowing for a substantial increase in capacity within a single cabinet. This innovation manifests in a 12.3% rise in module energy density and a remarkable 24.7% boost in site-level energy density, significantly lowering the levelized cost of storage (LCOS).
Safety is a key feature of Elementa 3, with optimized materials and an advanced liquid cooling system that provides a two-hour full-cabinet fire resistance. These enhancements ensure that it operates reliably even in the face of demanding grid conditions, a crucial element given the environmental challenges inherent in the region.
Specifically tailored for the harsh climates typical of the Middle East, Elementa 3 comes equipped to cope with extreme heat, dust, and high salinity. The cabinet features C5 coating to withstand coastal salt spray and abrasion from sand, while its modules meet IP67 protection standards for dust resistance. Furthermore, the system can function in temperatures reaching up to 55 °C, aided by a bionic cooling system designed for sustained efficiency under high heat.
With a robust global presence, Trina Storage has cumulatively shipped 12 GWh worth of energy solutions by 2025. In the Middle East, the company has established itself as a reliable partner with local delivery capabilities exemplified by its recent completion of a 300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Egypt, which was connected to the grid in just 60 days. This impressive feat not only sets a benchmark in project delivery but also reinforces Trina’s reputation in the energy market.
Recognized as a Tier 1 energy storage supplier by BloombergNEF for seven consecutive quarters, Trina Storage's excellence extends beyond just energy products. The company has been listed by S&P Global Commodity Insights on its Tier 1 roster for photovoltaic modules and energy storage systems, further cementing its bankable and reliable status in the eyes of investors and clients alike.
Todd Li, Trina Solar's Head for the Asia Pacific and Middle East Africa regions, highlighted the transformative phase that Saudi Arabia's energy landscape is entering. The Kingdom boasts over 57 gigawatts of solar and energy storage projects tendered under its National Renewable Energy Programme. Trina Storage is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in this growth through its advanced technologies and smart-energy solutions, accommodating the evolving energy demands of this vibrant nation.
The unveiling of Elementa 3 not only signifies Trina Storage's commitment to innovation but also represents a crucial advancement in support of Saudi Arabia's vision for a sustainable energy future. This deployment is indicative of the region's broader transition towards renewable energy sources, solidifying its position on the global energy map.
