Nittetsu Kowa's Expansion in Global Logistics
Nittetsu Kowa Real Estate Co., Ltd., based in Minato, Tokyo, is broadening its horizons by participating in a logistics facility development project in Plainfield, Illinois. This project is a collaboration with Trammell Crow Company, a prominent developer from Dallas, Texas, and CBRE Group, Inc., a major real estate services firm in Japan. This marks Nittetsu Kowa's third foray into international logistics, following its initial projects in Chicago and Atlanta.
Project Overview
The logistics facility being developed is strategically located in the Chicago metropolitan area, renowned for its critical infrastructure that connects major cities on both the East and West coasts through Interstate Highways and freight rail systems. Chicago O'Hare International Airport serves as a gateway for air cargo in the region, making this area a logistics hub with the highest storage volume in the Midwest, amounting to approximately 1.4 billion square feet.
The proposed facility is set just southwest of the Chicago CBD, within an area experiencing a surge of logistics developments, the Far South West Suburbs. Its positioning provides excellent access to Interstate Highways I-55 and I-80, making it ideal for companies requiring storage and distribution centers for e-commerce and consumer goods.
