webAI Appoints Dr. Paul J. Maykish as Chief Intelligence Officer, Launches Intelligence Lab

webAI Announces Dr. Paul J. Maykish as Chief Intelligence Officer

webAI has made a significant announcement today by appointing Dr. Paul J. Maykish as its Chief Intelligence Officer and launching its new Intelligence Lab. Located in Austin, Texas, the Intelligence Lab is dedicated to the development of accessible, sovereign, and defensible AI for deployment in both business and public sector environments.

Dr. Maykish comes to webAI after serving as Vice President of Technological Strategy for the Special Competitive Studies Project and as Director of Technological Competition at the National Security Council. With an extensive background of 24 years in military operations, he previously oversaw classified research on Artificial Intelligence for the National Security Commission and commanded operations involving AI implementations during the fight against ISIS. His experience positions him uniquely to drive the vision and operations at the newly established Intelligence Lab.

Under Dr. Maykish’s guidance, the Intelligence Lab aims to advance webAI’s long-term vision of a Superintelligence, which is designed to be constructed not as a single centralized model but rather as a network of interoperable and domain-specific intelligence systems. This approach ensures that the systems can work together securely, adapt to local operating conditions, and evolve over time while concurrently providing practical improvements to webAI’s existing platform.

David Stout, founder and CEO of webAI, shared his thoughts on this mission-driven initiative: “Our mission is simple yet non-negotiable—to advance toward an AI Superintelligence that is accessible, sovereign, and defensible. We believe the future of intelligence lies in something that is owned, operates, and can be trusted wherever needed. The Intelligence Lab exists to build that future.”

The focus areas for the Intelligence Lab will include:
  • - On-device and edge intelligence for local execution.
  • - Architectures built for security, integrity, and adversary resilience.
  • - Repeatable deployment patterns that scale across organizations and missions.

“The rise of AI as an operational infrastructure is undeniable, and the bar is being raised higher every day,” said Dr. Maykish. “The Intelligence Lab will construct systems that organizations can control from start to finish—covering everything from data management to model execution—while maintaining performance and reliability in real-world applications.”

This launch follows a significant funding and valuation milestone recently announced by webAI, accelerating its hiring and investment in product engineering and deployment programs to meet escalating demands for sovereign AI solutions.
