Jason Kirby Appointed as Chief Medical Officer at Recovery Centers of America
Recovery Centers of America (RCA), a prominent name in addiction treatment and mental health services, has announced the appointment of Dr. Jason Kirby as its new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Kirby, who holds dual board certifications in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine, will take on this significant role due to his extensive experience in the field and dedication to advancing patient care.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kirby plans to initially engage with various teams across RCA's facilities to gather insights and assess the current state of clinical quality and patient safety practices. This approach is essential as RCA strives to bolster interdisciplinary collaboration and ensure a seamless continuum of care for patients throughout their recovery journey. With over ten years of experience in addiction treatment, Dr. Kirby has honed his skills across diverse settings, including residential, outpatient, and virtual care services.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new role, Dr. Kirby commented, "I was drawn to this position because it sits at the intersection of clinical excellence, organizational leadership, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients. The commitment of RCA to evidence-based and outcomes-driven care resonates deeply with my professional values and past work."
Dr. Kirby earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and holds an MBA from Point Park University. Additionally, he has been selected as a Health Policy Fellow for 2024-2025 with the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), where he will focus on healthcare policy and regulatory strategies pertinent to addiction treatment.
Brett Cohen, the CEO of Recovery Centers of America, praised Dr. Kirby's extensive expertise in addiction medicine, stating that his background in clinical systems and leadership will greatly benefit RCA’s ongoing mission: delivering safe, consistent, and high-quality treatment to patients and their families. Under Dr. Kirby's leadership, the organization aims to enhance its commitment to excellence in addiction treatment.
In addition to his leadership role at RCA, Dr. Kirby has held several prestigious positions at the national and state levels. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and has recently concluded his term as President of the Tennessee Society of Addiction Medicine. His leadership extends to the financial realm, where he has been elected as Treasurer on ASAM’s National Executive Board, a position he will assume in April 2025, alongside chairing ASAM’s Finance Committee.
