Aignostics and PanCAN Join Forces for Pancreatic Cancer Research Advancement

Aignostics Teams Up with Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

Aignostics, an AI company specializing in transforming complex pathology data into meaningful insights, has announced a new collaboration with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). This partnership aims to leverage cutting-edge AI technology to further pancreatic cancer research, specifically through the application of spatial profiling data.

What This Means for Cancer Research

The collaboration focuses on analyzing pathological images using Aignostics’ Atlas HE-TME application, which facilitates extensive spatial profiling on the SPARK data platform operated by PanCAN. This initiative is expected to produce one of the most comprehensive datasets available on pancreatic cancer, made accessible to a wide array of scientific researchers.

Aignostics' Atlas HE-TME is a sophisticated AI-powered tool based on its high-performance pathology model. It conducts tissue checks, cell classifications, and generates over 4,500 quantitative measurements for individual images, providing invaluable insights into cancerous tissues.

Researchers seeking to access this data can do so at no charge via SPARK, which includes molecular, clinical, and imaging information from over 1,400 pancreatic cancer patients. Meanwhile, biopharma companies will have the opportunity to license these valuable findings for commercial use.

Addressing a Challenging Disease

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most elusive types of cancer to treat, with minimal improvements in treatment outcomes over recent decades. The disease possesses a highly immunosuppressive nature, hindering the efficacy of new therapies. With the incorporation of Aignostics' AI-driven tools into PanCAN's extensive data set, the partnership will equip researchers with powerful new instruments to decode biological mechanisms and enhance treatment results for patients.

Viktor Matyas, CEO of Aignostics, expressed, “PanCAN has created something truly unique with SPARK, and we are proud to contribute to making it even more powerful for researchers.” He noted the importance of expanding access to high-quality spatial profiling data, whether through initiatives like this partnership or projects such as OpenTME, to translate intricate pathological data into actionable insights for patients.

Dr. Sudheer Doss, Chief Business Officer at PanCAN and Head of Patient Health Data, added, “This collaboration enhances the SPARK dataset with potent AI tools that convert complex data into biological insights, contributing to improved treatment outcomes. By supplementing this multimodal dataset with spatial data, we can gain better understanding of how tumors develop and interact with their environments, potentially leading to new revelations about the disease.”

About Aignostics

Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from Charité Berlin, Aignostics operates in both Berlin and New York, focusing on precision medicine. The company merges proprietary access to multimodal clinical data, cutting-edge technology, and rigorous scientific principles to develop top-tier products and services in the pharmaceutical research landscape.

Aignostics also extends access to its services through academic partnerships and initiatives like "Atlas for Academics," which offers the "OpenTME" dataset containing pre-calculated spatial TME results. Academic researchers are encouraged to evaluate their own HE slides for free through their research access program.
