The Pal System Yamanashi-Nagano cooperative is set to host an exciting coffee brewing experience on March 4, 2026, at their Nishikatsura center in Yamanashi Prefecture. This special event, scheduled from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, will feature a hands-on session with a stainless steel coffee dripper developed by Shimomura Kihon Co., Ltd. from Niigata.

Connecting Makers and Users

During the workshop, participants will learn to use the innovative coffee dripper that eliminates the need for paper filters. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste the difference between coffee brewed with the Yamanashi dripper and traditional methods, guided by knowledgeable staff from Shimomura Kihon. The session aims not just to showcase the product but also to share the story behind its development, highlighting how the users’ input shaped its creation.

In addition to the brewing experience, participants can indulge in a selection of delicious sweets meticulously chosen by the Nishikatsura center supporters. The sweet offerings will include three varieties of cakes, assorted fruits, scones, and fair-trade chocolate sourced from Pal System’s delivery selections. This delightful pairing aims to strengthen the bond between product makers and consumers while enjoying a wonderful coffee break.

The Innovative Dripper Technology

The stainless steel coffee dripper features a finely woven mesh filter with a 250-mesh count, allowing users to brew coffee without any paper filters. This unique design prevents grounds from passing through while also reducing the risk of clogging, all thanks to the exceptional metalworking skills from the Yamanashi area. The dripper's construction minimizes seams, making it easy for users to clean it by simply rinsing it under water after use.

Each dripper is handcrafted, requiring precise metalworking techniques to ensure quality. The idea for this product emerged from discussions among a group of enthusiastic users who desired a more convenient way to enjoy coffee during their busy lives. After over a year of collaboration and prototyping with the manufacturer, the dripper was born, embodying the collective input from its users.
