The highly anticipated new production from Gekidan Mu, titled "Jeanne d’Arc -ジャンヌ・ダルク-", will take the stage at Woody Theatre Nakameguro, Tokyo, from October 2 to October 13, 2025. This captivating musical focuses on the final day of Joan of Arc's retrial, a momentous event that shaped the historical narrative surrounding this iconic figure.

Ticket sales for this extraordinary event will commence on August 8, 2025, at 19:00 via Confetti, managed by Long Run Planning Co., Ltd., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The production promises an immersive experience, as it showcases the innovative concept of using only live vocals and instruments, foregoing any sound amplification equipment.

An Innovative Approach to Musical Storytelling



Gekidan Mu is making waves in the theatrical scene by producing original Japanese musicals intended for a global audience. Their motto, "Japanese musicals for the world!", exemplifies their commitment to creating grand narratives rooted in historical context and love stories, utilizing a unique performance style that has received acclaim since their inaugural production, "Liebe ~シューマンの愛したひと~," which earned a nomination in the Musical Awards TOKYO 2024.

In a little over a year since their debut, Gekidan Mu has seen their audiences grow significantly, with over 2,000 attendees in their last production compared to about 1,000 in their very first. This growth underscores the public's enthusiasm for their innovative approach to theater.

Stellar Cast



In the titular role of Joan of Arc, audiences will witness two remarkable young actresses: Hinata Kasai, known for her performances in major musicals such as "Annie" and "FUN HOME," and Shinran Kawazaki, a rising star currently studying at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, who recently secured the runner-up position in "Kayo Saito's Singing Competition 2023" and the Grand Prix in "Musical Lovers 2024."

The character of King Charles VII will be portrayed by the talented Hikaru Higashiyama, known for his commanding presence in productions like "SMOKE" and "Akato Kuro." Joining him is Naoto Tada, an accomplished actor featured in top-tier productions including "Touken Ranbu" and the hit franchise "Oshi no Ko: 2.5D Theatre Edition."

The character Gilles de Rais, who fought alongside Joan, will be played by DION, a graduate of a New York acting school, and Yusuke Anazawa, who has participated in various productions like "Kinky Boots" and "Chocolat Donut."

The antagonistic role of Bishop Cauchon, who condemned Joan, features KENTARO, an established performer with credits in shows like "Les Misérables" and "Sister Act," as well as Takashi Matsubara, recognized for his contributions in various musical productions and as a singer known for his work in Sentai series themes.

A Moving Experience



The performances will feature an impressive ensemble cast such as Akane Kashima, Anri Isobe, Naoya Kamizawa, and many others, all bringing exceptional singing and acting skills to the stage. Their combined talents promise to vividly depict the dramatic human experiences surrounding Joan of Arc's retrial.

The musical will be directed by Takaya Okamoto, an acclaimed playwright and director known for his significant works and innovative storytelling in the theatrical arena. Music will be composed by Masato Kamada, with choreography by Aya Tomita, and the action directed by Hideaki Okuzumi.
