MND Reinforces Its Leadership in Avalanche Risk Prevention Globally
MND: A Global Leader in Avalanche Risk Management
MND, a prominent French company headquartered in Chambéry, France, has established itself as the leader in managing avalanche risks largely due to its innovative systems and solutions. The company recently announced that it has secured new contracts in several countries, including Canada, the United States, Chile, Argentina, and Norway. These new agreements highlight MND's ongoing commitment to enhancing safety measures in regions vulnerable to avalanches.
Success Abroad: Key Contracts
MND has showcased its strong expertise in avalanche risk prevention with significant projects on five continents. In Canada, the firm has been awarded a contract to ensure the year-round accessibility of the Brucejack gold mine's 76-kilometer-long access road in British Columbia. To achieve this, MND is installing a Gazex system, known for its reliability and ability to operate autonomously in extreme conditions. The operator, NEWMONT, has chosen MND for this critical operation through its distributor AVATEK.
In the United States, the California Department of Transportation has renewed its partnership with MND, extending it for an additional three years. This renewal includes the replacement of six Gazex systems located in Tahoe Valley, further emphasizing the trust placed in MND’s capabilities.
MND’s contracts in South America include significant projects in Chile and Argentina. At the CODELCO Div. Los Bronces copper mine, MND is working on modernizing the communication systems for its forty Gazex units, empowering them with satellite connectivity ensured by 18 satellites, which guarantees secure communication between the control bases and the web platform SAFET-Cs. Additionally, at the Las Leñas ski resort in Argentina, the company is upgrading a Gazex installation situated at high altitudes, between 7,200 to 11,200 feet, showcasing its adaptability to diverse environments.
Innovative Solutions for Safety
Norway is also benefitting from MND’s commitment to avalanche safety. The company secured the main road on Arnøya Island with the installation of 24 removable O'BellX units, combined with radar and weather station systems. This project is focused on protecting popular ski touring routes and includes a contract for operation and maintenance over a renewable five-year period.
With more than 3,000 installed systems in 22 countries, MND products are pivotal not only for industrial applications but also for ensuring safer roads, railroads, ski resorts, and villages. A prime example of this is the Chamonix valley, where MND equipment provides safe passage to essential sites like the Mont-Blanc tunnel. MND products are distinctively designed and assembled in France and are backed by an extensive portfolio of patents that testify to their innovation.
