Amazon Workers at DJT6 in Riverside Initiate Union Campaign with Teamsters

Amazon Workers at DJT6 Facility in Riverside Launch Union Drive with Teamsters

In a bold move, Amazon warehouse workers at the DJT6 facility in Riverside, California, have officially kicked off a campaign to join forces with the Teamsters Union. This facility is one of the largest delivery stations for Amazon in the nation, and the workers have voiced their concerns regarding pay, safety, and their overall working conditions.

The campaign is spearheaded by the workers of Teamsters Local 1932, who are determined to push for better pay and safer working environments. In solidarity, night shift workers engaged in a walkout early Tuesday morning as an act of protest, signaling their resolve to demand respect and fair treatment.

Randy Korgan, who serves as the Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division and the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 1932, emphasized the courage displayed by the workers at Riverside. “Amazon workers in Riverside are not afraid to take on one of the world's wealthiest corporations,” Korgan stated. “During the holidays, DJT6 workers play a crucial role not only for Amazon but also for millions across Southern California. They are done having their concerns go unnoticed by management.”

The DJT6 workers’ initiative is not isolated; it is inspired by the recent nationwide strike at Amazon that occurred just before Christmas in 2024. This strike included various actions at KSBD, which is Amazon’s regional air hub located in San Bernardino. Notably, this is part of a larger trend, as Teamsters have successfully organized workers at multiple Southern California facilities including KSBD, DAX5 in City of Industry, DFX4 in Victorville, and DAX8 in Palmdale.

Samuel Padilla, a dedicated member of the DJT6 workforce, expressed the urgency of their movement. “We do the work that keeps Amazon running every single day,” he explained. “We are organizing because we want a real say in our working conditions and the means to provide for our families. Amazon pushes us to our limits, and we deserve better.”

The union drive by DJT6 workers is part of a broader nationwide movement that includes nearly 10,000 Amazon workers expressing their desire to join the Teamsters Union. This initiative marks a significant moment in the fight for worker rights in the e-commerce industry, as organized efforts continue to gain momentum. Alongside the campaigns in Riverside, over 200 drivers in Queens, New York, and Amazon CDL drivers in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, are also in the process of unionizing with the Teamsters.

The Teamsters, established in 1903, represents a collective of over 1.3 million dedicated workers across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Their mission is to advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the rights of laborers throughout North America. As the DJT6 workers embark on this critical journey towards building a stronger union presence, they set a compelling example for workers across various sectors, advocating for dignity and respect in the workplace. Their determination underlines a growing trend where workers are asserting their rights and demanding a voice in the operations of large corporations that heavily rely on them.
