Improving Labor Productivity: Free Online Seminar
On April 2, 2026, from 18:00-19:00 JST, a free online seminar will be hosted by STAMEN Co. (based in Chiyoda, Tokyo) featuring Honorary Professor Masaya Sakuragawa from Keio University. This seminar aims to provide insights into the fundamental aspects of labor productivity and its relationship with wages and employment.
Understanding Labor Productivity
The notion that enhancing labor productivity leads to increased employment and higher real wages is widely accepted—in fact, it is often viewed as a fundamental truth. However, when analyzed from an economic perspective, this concept is not as self-evident. This seminar will reexamine common theories surrounding labor productivity and delve deeper into the intricate connections between technological advancements, labor productivity, real wages, and employment.
Attendees will gain valuable insights to consider as they take the first steps towards improving the status of workers.
Who Should Attend?
This informative session is highly recommended for union executives, newly appointed officers, and union members. The program offers perspectives beneficial to individuals involved in labor unions, helping them navigate the complexities of labor productivity and its implications.
Seminar Program
The seminar will feature a presentation by Professor Sakuragawa, who will approach the topic from the viewpoints of macroeconomics and corporate behavior. Participants will engage in a thoughtful discussion about the structural challenges of productivity stagnation and explore the evolving dynamics of labor, wages, and investment in the years to come.
