Evident Completes Acquisition of CrestOptics S.p.A., Expanding Optical Imaging Solutions

Evident Completes Acquisition of CrestOptics S.p.A.

Evident Corporation has officially finalized its acquisition of CrestOptics S.p.A., a Rome-based innovator in the field of optical imaging systems. This strategic move is set to significantly enhance Evident’s portfolio in the life sciences sector, particularly in the fast-evolving domain of optical microscopy and high-content 3D imaging applications.

CrestOptics, established in 2011, has made its mark by developing cutting-edge confocal microscopy systems. Their products, such as the X-Light series of spinning disk confocal systems, deliver high precision optical sectioning and uniform illumination across vast fields of view. Other notable offerings include the compact CICERO wide-field confocal system, designed to provide high-performance entry-level imaging options for laboratories, and the DeepSIM module for super-resolution Lattice SIM imaging, allowing researchers to obtain diffraction-limited images with ease.

Wes Pringle, CEO of Evident, emphasizes the alignment between both organizations, stating, "Researchers are increasingly asking more intricate questions of complex biological models, which necessitates faster, gentler, and higher-resolution imaging techniques. Our partnership with CrestOptics reinforces our commitment to advancing the optical technologies that empower scientists to make discoveries more quickly and effectively than ever before."

This acquisition not only consolidates Evident’s existing relationship with CrestOptics but also opens new avenues for innovation and technological development. CrestOptics' rotational disk technology has already been integrated into Evident’s existing microscope configurations, thus making this transition seamless.

Renato Giacobbo Scavo, CEO of CrestOptics, remarked, "Joining forces with Evident is a natural progression for CrestOptics. We share a mutual drive to push the boundaries of what microscopy can achieve. With Evident’s global reach and production capabilities, we can significantly accelerate our innovation roadmap, bringing our advanced technologies to a larger audience of laboratories worldwide."

Looking ahead, CrestOptics will continue its operations from its headquarters in Rome, maintaining existing partnerships and distributor relationships, while further solidifying its role as a key player in the microscopy technology sector.

With over a century of expertise in optical precision, Evident remains committed to providing cutting-edge imaging solutions that combine renowned optical capabilities with digital innovation. The acquisition of CrestOptics enhances their offerings in various scientific fields, including high-end fluorescence microscopy, 4D analysis, and digital pathology solutions.

This merger also indicates the growing necessity for advanced imaging systems in research and pharmaceutical applications, responding to the increasing demand for high-speed imaging solutions in contemporary biological studies. Evident’s expansive global footprint, with research and production centers in Japan, the USA, Germany, and China, positions it uniquely to spearhead advancements in optical imaging technologies for the academic and commercial sectors alike.
