Allison Transmission's Major Milestone in Defense

Allison Transmission is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of the German Armed Forces by supplying fully automatic transmissions for approximately 3,000 EAGLE V armored vehicles. This significant order marks the extension of a fruitful 20-year partnership between Allison and General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS).

The recent agreement covers a variety of EAGLE V models, including 4x4 command and control vehicles and 6x6 medium armored ambulance units, with deliveries anticipated to commence in 2027. Notably, the contract also includes an option for up to an additional 2,000 vehicles, demonstrating the commitment to integrate advanced technology into Germany's military infrastructure.

Allison's 2500 Specialty Series™ (SP) transmission is the sole automatic transmission option for the entire EAGLE family of vehicles. Taner Gider, Executive Director for EMEA Sales at Allison Transmission, expressed pride in the relationship, stating, “Allison is honored that GDELS entrusts the reliability and performance of our transmissions.”

The EAGLE V vehicles are recognized globally as one of the most sophisticated multi-purpose protected vehicles currently available. For over two decades, the robustness of Allison’s torque converter technology has earned the trust of GDELS, with every EAGLE vehicle since the EAGLE IV being equipped with Allison 2500 SP transmissions as standard. The German Armed Forces has procured approximately 670 vehicles from the EAGLE family since 2008, underscoring the vehicles' reliability and efficiency in the field. Furthermore, with the recent order of 80 EAGLE V 6x6 ambulances, which are expected to deliver soon after production commenced in May 2025, Alison continues to solidify its position in the defense sector.
