UWorld Accounting Introduces New Case-Based Questions for CMA Exam
UWorld Accounting has recently made significant updates to its Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) prep courses by incorporating 28 new case-based question sets (CBQs). This transition aligns with the evolving CMA exam format set to take place in the upcoming May/June testing window. As the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA®) shifts its focus toward practical skills in management accounting, UWorld's new CBQs are designed to enhance candidates’ real-world decision-making abilities and applied analytical skills.
Understanding the New Case-Based Questions
The introduction of case-based questions marks a notable change in the CMA exam structure. UWorld's CBQs feature various response formats including drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, multiple-choice, and calculation-type questions. Notably, these questions will account for 25% of the total exam score in each CMA part, which emphasizes their importance for candidates looking to achieve success on the examination.
Candidates will have the option to choose between these innovative CBQs and traditional essay-format questions during the May/June exam. However, it's important to note that moving forward, essay questions will be completely phased out, making way for the exclusive use of CBQs.
A Statement from UWorld's Leadership
Chandra Pemmasani, MD, the founder and CEO of UWorld, remarked on the significance of this transition, stating, "This CBQ transition reflects the evolving demands of the accounting profession. By integrating them into our CMA review courses now, we are preparing CMA candidates for the new assessment's format and rigor while equipping them to meet the practical demands of their careers and achieve long-term professional success." This statement underscores UWorld's commitment to providing relevant and modern exam preparation tools.
