SOCO Launches Innovative Postpartum Recovery Program with Sapporo City

Introduction

In a groundbreaking initiative, SOCO has launched a specialized postpartum recovery program in collaboration with Sapporo City. This program is designed to support women who have recently given birth and are facing unique physical challenges, particularly during the harsh winter months in Hokkaido. SOCO is dedicated to providing online services geared towards recovery and body shaping for postpartum women.

The Need for Seasonal Support

Research conducted by SOCO has indicated a significant increase in requests for postpartum recovery services from women residing in regions affected by winter weather conditions, such as Hokkaido and the Tohoku area. This spike in interest has led the company to hypothesize that there may be seasonal and regional variations in the physical and emotional challenges faced by new mothers. Many of these women experience what SOCO defines as “postpartum damage” - issues that did not exist prior to pregnancy.

Tailored Recovery Courses

The postpartum recovery program includes four customized courses for Sapporo City employees, namely: vaginal delivery, cesarean section, painless delivery, and advanced maternal age. The program targets 30 employees of Sapporo City who are within three years postpartum and are struggling with health issues related to pregnancy and childbirth. Participants will be asked to complete online surveys before and after the course to assess how their lifestyles and behaviors have changed.

Program Features

The services offered as part of this innovative program include:
  • - Physical Analysis and Planning: Custom plans based on individual needs.
  • - Postpartum Coaching: Support beyond lessons to help maintain well-being.
  • - Recovery Programs: Structured exercises and activities designed for postpartum recovery.
  • - Nutritional Consultation: Guidance in developing healthy eating habits post-birth.

Collaboration Goals

Sapporo City is keenly aware that severe winter conditions often lead to reduced physical activity and social interaction, particularly for new mothers caring for young children. This can significantly impact their mental and physical health. Furthermore, the city has faced declining birth rates, with 2024 marking a historic low of under 10,000 births for the first time in 62 years. In response, Sapporo City aims to improve its environment for childbirth and child-rearing.

SOCO, through its recovery services, is committed to supporting women's health and working toward enhancing the workforce and parenting environment for postpartum women. This partnership with Sapporo City represents a crucial step in addressing these important issues.
