E-Dash Continues Support for Decarbonization in Ina City with Innovative Program

E-Dash's Ongoing Commitment to Decarbonization in Ina City

E-Dash Corporation, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has announced its continuation of the decarbonization support program in partnership with Ina City, Nagano Prefecture, for the second consecutive year. This initiative, known as the Decarbonization Management 'I-na' Program, aims to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region in visualizing and reducing their CO₂ emissions using the innovative 'e-dash' service.

Background of the Initiative

The city of Ina has been proactive in addressing CO₂ emissions since December 2016, implementing the 'Let's Reduce CO₂ from Ina!!' project. While emissions in the industrial and transportation sectors have shown a downward trend, emissions from commercial establishments and offices have remained stable. This necessitates stronger collaborative efforts among businesses to enhance decarbonization initiatives.

As the focus on decarbonization grows across the society, SMEs are compelled to adapt to environmental concerns, reduce operational costs, and seize new business opportunities in line with evolving economic demands. However, many SMEs lack the expertise to accurately assess their emissions and to formulate specific reduction strategies. This program is designed to tackle these challenges and facilitate the achievement of Ina City's target of carbon neutrality by 2050 by simplifying the initial steps of this journey.

Overview of the Support Program

E-Dash will provide the following support to five SMEs in Ina city:

1. CO₂ Emissions Assessment and Visualization: Utilizing the 'e-dash' platform, businesses can easily visualize their CO₂ emissions by uploading their electricity and gas bills. The platform offers intuitive insights into energy usage and emissions data without requiring specialized knowledge. Comprehensive support will be available via phone or online.

2. Specific Action Proposals for Emissions Reduction: The definition of success in this program goes beyond data visualization. E-Dash will provide actionable recommendations based on the collected data, which may include implementing energy-efficient technologies, installing solar power systems, and leveraging carbon credits and environmental value. Each proposal will be tailored to the specific business environment and investment plans of participating companies.

These support services will be provided free of charge to participating companies until February 2027.

Promoting Decarbonization in Local Businesses

Through this initiative, E-Dash aims to empower SMEs in Ina City to transition towards decarbonized management, thus contributing to achieving local carbon neutrality and fostering sustainable economic growth. The company will collaborate with local financial institutions to facilitate outreach and engagement with businesses in the region.

Participating companies interested in the program will have the opportunity to attend an online explanatory meeting about the services offered by 'e-dash'. Registration for the program requires participation in this meeting, ensuring all interested parties are well-informed about the decarbonization efforts available to them.

Comments from Local Officials

Mr. Kiyoto Miyashita, the head of the Renewable Energy Promotion Section at Ina City, commented on the significance of the initiative: "Since the establishment of our CO₂ emission reduction plan in 2016, we've made considerable progress in addressing emissions, especially from residential areas. However, it is essential to extend our efforts toward the industrial sector, which constitutes a significant share of emissions. We hope this visualization program will encourage local businesses to embrace decarbonized management."
