Tech Mahindra Revolutionizes Autonomous Network Operations with Advanced AI Model and AWS Cloud
Tech Mahindra Unveils Cutting-Edge AI Model for Telecommunications
In a significant advancement for the telecommunications industry, Tech Mahindra has introduced a revolutionary large language model designed to enhance the operations of multimodal networks. This innovative model, developed using NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and AWS Cloud infrastructure, aims to transform traditional telecommunications networks into fully autonomous systems.
The newly launched model is built upon the Llama 3.1 8b instruction model and has been specifically customized for telecommunications networks. It has been trained on extensive datasets, incorporating the latest frameworks of generative AI and agent-based AI technologies. The model is engineered to proficiently handle a vast array of structured data, including network events, alarms, and metrics, along with unstructured data such as logs, images, text, and marketing content. This multifaceted capability allows for proactive problem-solving and enhanced service quality.
Tech Mahindra's initiative comes at a time when telecom operators are grappling with the pressing need for operational efficiency and integration of AI technologies. The introduction of this AI model represents a paradigm shift from traditional transactional AI applications to a holistic approach where AI capabilities are seamlessly integrated across network operations. This facilitates a more efficient and resilient operational environment for telecommunications providers.
In collaboration with NVIDIA and AWS, Tech Mahindra aims to assist the communications sector in harnessing the full potential of AI to improve performance and operational excellence. The combination of Tech Mahindra's netOps.ai network automation platform, the Tech Mahindra Optimized Framework (TENO), and essential AWS services such as Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is pivotal to this transformation.
The move towards autonomous networks (Level 4 and above) is not merely an ambition but a necessity in today’s fast-paced telecom landscape. Manish Mangal, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Telecommunications and Global Business Services at Tech Mahindra, emphasized that the shift to autonomous networks is imperative, asserting that the collaboration with NVIDIA and AWS is integral in crafting a multimodal network operations model designed to bolster security, automate network management, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
The initial development phase of this model will focus on improving operational efficiency through what is termed
