Yutong Bus Celebrates Major Milestone on Earth Day 2025
In a groundbreaking announcement on Earth Day 2025, Yutong Bus, a leading Asian manufacturer of commercial vehicles, revealed its commitment to the environment through the initiation of the Net Zero Forest program. This innovative initiative pledges to plant one tree for every bus added to its fleet globally, combining business success with environmental stewardship. This bold move is part of Yutong's long-term sustainability strategy and aligns with its corporate social responsibility framework emphasizing sustainable investing principles.
In 2024, Yutong successfully planted over 36,000 trees in various countries, including China, Chile, and the UK, and aims to escalate this effort by planting 47,000 trees in 2025. The ten-year plan envisions expansion worldwide, creating a sustainable legacy well beyond the initial stages of the program.
Yutong's Net Zero Forest initiative aims to combat climate change by adopting a Double Carbon model, which accelerates the deployment of zero-emission buses while also restoring ecosystems through strategic afforestation. By linking each vehicle sale to direct ecological actions, Yutong establishes a transparent and sustainable value chain that engages customers, partners, and communities in a collective effort toward climate protection.
Jason Huang, Global Brand Director at Yutong Bus, proclaimed, “Sustainability is not just a goal for Yutong; it is embedded in our DNA through our corporate commitment ‘Think Green, Move Green.’ Connecting each bus on the road with measurable ecological impacts allows us to visualize the journey from vehicle production to carbon neutrality.”
For 2025, Yutong’s campaign will focus on areas facing pressing environmental challenges, delivering tailored solutions. Each project is supported by the TEAM ZERO alliance, consisting of over 40 global operators of hybrid and electric buses committed to promoting carbon neutrality. The program’s success hinges on critical innovations such as:
1.
Double Carbon Model: This model reduces dependence on fossil fuels while enhancing natural carbon sinks through a combination of clean transportation and reforestation.
2.
Long-Term Commitment: A decade-long plan to plant millions of trees globally ensures a durable environmental and social impact.
3.
Technically Driven Accountability: Digital tools, such as carbon footprint monitoring, quantify emission reductions and guarantee data-driven optimization.
Yutong’s unwavering dedication to leading in green mobility underpins its mission to transform global public transport through decarbonization and sustainability. Since 2021, Yutong has been advocating global climate action. At COP26, it showcased zero-emission public transport solutions for the UK, and in 2023, its E12 electric bus received dual certification from UK agencies Zemo Partnership and UTAC, confirming compliance with European energy efficiency and carbon emission standards.
Yutong also boosted public interest in low-carbon commuter transport during the Green Mobility Week in Australia in 2024. The Net Zero Forest initiative extends this link, achieving local benefits such as halting desertification in the Gansu province of China, revitalizing urban ecosystems in the UK, and restoring climate-affected forests in Chile. Besides ecological advantages, this initiative fosters the creation of green jobs, advocates for electrified public transport policy, and solidifies Yutong's reputation as a sustainability pioneer.
