With over 2,300 interviews conducted in 14 countries across four continents, the study highlights how different nations perceive the urgency and importance of transitioning to sustainable energy sources. Elucidating the findings, India has emerged as a front-runner in energy transition awareness, boasting a remarkable 63% of respondents who showcased familiarity with the topic. This is notably higher than Kazakhstan, where only 29% reported being very knowledgeable about the energy transition. Additionally, the study assesses the perceived commitment to implementing decarbonization strategies. Here, India leads once again with a strong commitment rate of 71%, while Kazakhstan and Argentina displayed the lowest commitment rates at 15% and 23% respectively. For instance, while India's populace largely views the energy transition as a national priority, in Argentina, only 34% hold this view. The sentiment towards the urgency of action varies greatly, with India and Turkey showing high prioritization rates, while Argentina displays a stark contrast. Such discrepancies indicate different stages of public discourse and governmental action toward sustainability goals.

In this context, Qatar has shown rising awareness levels, with around 67% of respondents acknowledging the energy transition's significance. The country appears committed to investing in renewable energy technologies, albeit concerns linger over potential job losses in traditional sectors.

Challenges and Opportunities

While the potential for growth and job creation in the energy segment is recognized globally, several challenges persist. In Kazakhstan, citizens question whether the costs associated with transitioning might outweigh the anticipated benefits. Saudi Arabia, conversely, expresses optimism, believing initial costs will balance out over time. Other challenges include fostering stakeholder engagement, especially in nations like China and India, which are deemed essential to ensure success in this global undertaking.
