DIY Week at Cainz: Embrace Creativity
Cainz, a leading home center chain in Japan, is excited to announce the "DIY Week" event taking place in 65 locations across the country from September 2 to October 5, as part of the broader "Living with Lala" month. This initiative is designed to bring families together through hands-on activities, emphasizing the joy of crafting and creativity.
A Journey into DIY
The DIY Week offers a remarkable opportunity for both children and adults to participate in various DIY workshops. With hands-on experiences, this event aims to spark curiosity and encourages participants to indulge in their creative instincts. The workshop allows families to bond over crafting projects, discussing ideas, and expressing their individual creativity.
Workshops for Everyone
The workshops available during the DIY Week are diverse and engaging. Here’s a snapshot of some of the activities:
Fee: ¥500 (tax included)
Participants will create their own mini kaleidoscope, filled with sparkling elements that produce ever-changing patterns when viewed through. This encourages creativity and allows children to express themselves freely.
Fee: ¥600 (tax included)
In this workshop, participants will fill lantern-shaped decorations with deodorizing beads, enabling even the youngest creators to join in. Once complete, these lanterns can be displayed at home for added charm.
- - Magic Clay Mini Stickers
Fee: ¥100 (tax included)
Using a special clay that changes colors based on the mixture ratio, participants will create their own stickers. This activity combines the thrill of color blending with imaginative designs.
Locations and Participation
These workshops will be hosted at numerous stores including those in Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki, and many more, making it accessible for various communities. Note that the specific dates, times, and workshop menus may differ by store.
DIY Arcade Experience
In addition to workshops, DIY Week features a unique DIY Arcade in 11 stores, where visitors can play with handcrafted wooden toys made from digital components and DIY parts. This immersive experience is designed to captivate participants by providing hands-on entertainment that showcases the charm of handmade games.
- Some participating stores for the DIY Arcade include Isezaki, Tsuruoka, and Makuhari.
- The arcade will be available starting mid-September 2026, allowing everyone to enjoy engaging games with family and friends.
Celebrating Community and Crafting
The "Living with Lala" month goes beyond just DIY activities. It encompasses a variety of events, including giveaways of original bags and stickers, tasting events for snacks, and opportunities to explore more workshops. All of these are designed to enhance the shopping experience and foster community spirit.
