AM Green and DP World Collaborate to Make India a Leader in Sustainable Energy and Green Molecules

Partnership Overview

AM Green, a prominent name in the production of green hydrogen and ammonia, is taking ambitious strides to establish India as a significant player in the global sustainable energy sector. Together with DP World, a leader in logistics, they are initiating a transformative project aimed at fortifying India’s role in the international green molecule market. The partnership aims to enhance India’s capabilities in exporting green fuels such as ammonia and methanol, which are essential for global decarbonization efforts.

Memorandum of Understanding

In December, AM Green and DP World signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that lays out their collaborative vision. This agreement outlines the development of infrastructural projects intended to facilitate the global export of up to 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia and green methanol. Key initiatives include:

  • - Establishing port facilities across AM Green's Net-Zero Industrial Clusters to streamline global exports of sustainable fuels.
  • - Creating bunkering infrastructure in locations like Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia to handle green ammonia and methanol sourced from AM Green’s growing production facilities.
  • - Developing strategic terminal hubs within the European Union, Far East, and the UAE to support a zero-carbon supply chain, thus easing their transition into low-carbon economies.

Sustainable Production Goals

AM Green is dedicated to constructing multiple projects across India's diverse landscape, harnessing renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. The company aims to produce a variety of green fuels including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), green ammonia, and green hydrogen. By 2030, the projected output capacity is an impressive 5 MTPA, making a monumental contribution to both India's national net-zero goals and the global fight against climate change.

The recent final investment decision for a 1 MTPA green ammonia facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, signifies the initiative's first major step. Mahesh Kolli, the Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, expressed confidence in their role in positioning India as an exporter of green energy.

Shared Vision for Sustainability

Yuvraj Narayan, the Deputy CEO and CFO of DP World Group, reflected on their ambition, stating their intent to impact economies positively through sustainable supply chains. This collaboration with AM Green allows them to merge logistics expertise with green energy aspirations, thus facilitating the international distribution of clean fuels and chemical products. By working together, AM Green and DP World are setting a precedent in enabling a low-carbon economy while driving forward global sustainability goals.

About AM Green

Promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, one of India's leading renewable energy enterprises, AM Green is spearheading efforts in renewable energy production. The organization is backed by extensive experience in the development and operational management of renewable assets. AM Green’s mission is to prioritize sustainable practices through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions across multiple business units.

The target to increase the production of green ammonia across various facilities in India by attaining a capacity of 5 MTPA by 2030 is crucial for meeting both India's and Europe’s decarbonization targets. This output is expected to contribute significantly to India's ambitions for green hydrogen production as well.
