The Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC), part of the Creative Media Authority (CMA), has made a significant impact on the global film industry by facilitating international productions, particularly the recent film 'Now You See Me Now You Don’t' produced by Lionsgate. This latest initiative highlights the extensive collaborative efforts undertaken to successfully complete the project in Abu Dhabi, featuring spectacular cinematic settings that have attracted filmmakers from all over the world.

In a new behind-the-scenes video, ADFC reveals the intricate process involved in bringing 'Now You See Me Now You Don't' to life in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The film has not only attracted attention for its thrilling narrative but also for the seamless integration of local resources and talent, showcasing Abu Dhabi as a premier location for film production.

The collaborative effort encompasses various entities including the Creative Media Authority, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, Miral Destinations, and the local production service provider, Epic Films. This cooperation exemplifies both the strength of the film ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and its potential to attract major global studios.

As the film premiered worldwide, it grossed over $80.5 million during its opening weekend, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a formidable player in the cinematic landscape. The video also illustrates the government’s supportive framework, optimized production assistance, and advanced infrastructure that collectively pave the way for large-scale international film productions.

More than 450 professionals worked on this production, including 290 international workers and over 170 local freelancers. This robust collaboration underscores the growing pool of technical and creative talent available in Abu Dhabi’s expanding creative sector. Interviews in the video with key members of the production team, including director Reuben Fleischer, producer Bobby Cohen, and executive vice president of physical production Kelly Konop, shed light on their experiences of working in the UAE.

Sameer Al Jaberi, director of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, emphasized the significance of this behind-the-scenes documentary in celebrating the collaborative ecosystem that transforms Abu Dhabi into a true cinematic destination. He noted, “Completing a production of this magnitude demonstrates our efficiency, strong inter-agency coordination, and the talent of our local creative media industry.” Moreover, he stated that such projects contribute significantly to the growth of the local creative ecosystem while allowing international filmmakers to realize their visions.

Liam Findlay, CEO of Miral Destinations, also reiterated the value of their collaboration, highlighting how the film showcases Yas Island and Abu Dhabi as a world-class destination for filmmakers. The iconic architecture and attractions found on Yas Island, alongside Abu Dhabi's supportive framework, establish the region as a hub for cinema and innovation.
