Terra Charge Launches EV Charging at Haneda Airport
Terra Charge Corporation, headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, has announced the commencement of its electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging services at Haneda Airport. Starting May 23, 2025, two rapid charging stations and 17 EV outlets will be available in the airport’s parking facilities (P1 and P4).
Enhancing Travel Experience
Haneda Airport is not only a bustling hub for travelers but also a destination in itself, offering observation decks, diverse shopping venues, and a variety of restaurants. By installing rapid chargers and EV outlets, Terra Charge aims to cater to the needs of both travelers who wish to recharge their EVs during their trips and those who visit the airport for leisure activities, thus creating a comfortable EV charging environment for all EV drivers.
Commitment to Carbon Neutrality
As part of the initiative for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Japan is accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and the expansion of charging infrastructure. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has set a target to install 300,000 charging points nationwide by 2030, up from the current 40,000.
Haneda Airport has set its sights on becoming an advanced airport by 2030 that is friendly to both people and the environment. The airport is actively pursuing efforts to decarbonize and aims to create a sustainable airport in harmony with the global environment.
Features of the Charging Facilities
By introducing rapid chargers and EV outlets, Terra Charge is effectively addressing the demands of EV drivers visiting the airport for shopping or sightseeing, as well as those traveling by plane. The rapid chargers enable quick refueling for day-trippers, while the EV outlets ensure that travelers can return to a fully charged vehicle after their trips.
Utilizing Terra Charge’s chargers allows EV drivers to independently manage their charging sessions through a mobile app, allowing them to start and stop the charging process and complete payment all by themselves, which also alleviates the workload of parking attendants.
Charging fees will be applicable, and EV drivers will pay only for what they use, facilitating a sustainable EV charging service at Haneda Airport.
