ReCute Launches Hair Iron Rental Service at Asakusa EKIMISE

ReCute Expands to Asakusa with Innovative Hair Iron Rental

In a move to enhance the experience of visitors to one of Japan's most iconic districts, ReCute Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of its hair iron rental service at the Asakusa EKIMISE shopping complex. Set to begin on June 18, 2025, the service aims to cater primarily to users in their 20s and 30s, offering an immediate solution to style their hair while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Asakusa.

Located directly connected to Asakusa Station, EKIMISE is a hub for tourists seeking both convenience and accessibility. With numerous attractions nearby, including traditional kimono dressing experiences and picturesque photo spots, visitors often desire to maintain a polished look throughout their day. The introduction of the ReCute rental service intends to meet this demand, allowing users to conveniently access high-quality hair styling tools without the hassle of carrying them around.

Service Overview

The ReCute service allows customers to rent hair styling tools through a dedicated smartphone application. With a simple and user-friendly process, renters can pick up the devices from specially designed lockers located in restrooms at commercial buildings, train stations, and event venues. Here’s how it works:

1. Download the App: Users must download the ReCute app and register their member and payment information.
2. Scan & Unlock: At the rental box, they simply scan the QR code provided on the box with the app, unlocking it in seconds.
3. Start Styling: Users can take out a hair iron, switch it on, and adjust the temperature according to their styling needs.
4. Safe Return: After use, they turn off the device, return it to the box, and close the lid. Finally, they need to take a photo to confirm the return, which completes the rental process and initiates payment.

The initial offering will include popular models such as the ReFa Beautec Curl Iron (32mm) and KINUJO Straight Iron, ensuring users have access to high-quality styling tools. The pricing structure is straightforward, with a pay-per-use plan of 385 yen for the first 10 minutes, and 33 yen for each additional minute. Additionally, a monthly subscription plan is available for those who might need frequent access to the service.

Community Impact and Support

This innovative introduction to the Asakusa area is part of a larger initiative known as the TOBU Open Innovation Program, which fosters collaboration between startups and established companies. Since its launch in November 2021, the program has focused on enhancing the tourism industry and addressing the needs of travelers by integrating business solutions and promoting innovation.

Furthermore, support for this project comes from the Tokyo Railway Innovation Partnership (TRIP), a consortium of various rail companies in Tokyo aimed at driving impactful innovations that address societal challenges. Together, these initiatives represent a significant step forward in enhancing visitor experiences and addressing the everyday needs of tourists and locals alike.

With ReCute's hair iron rental service, visitors to Asakusa will find it more convenient than ever to keep their hairstyles in check. The initiative not only aims to cater to the needs of young travelers looking for aesthetic solutions during their adventures but also reinforces Asakusa's commitment to being a tourist-friendly destination.
