On July 17, 2025, Shanghai Electric officially inaugurated the
2025 Digital Intelligence Technology Tournament as part of their initiative to advance artificial intelligence (AI) and digital skills among young professionals. This tournament aligns with the goals of the
2025 World Youth Skills Day, which emphasizes the crucial role of youth as catalysts for change in the ever-evolving landscape of AI and digital technologies.
Shanghai Electric’s initiative is designed to inspire their global workforce, encouraging young employees to expand their capabilities in AI and digital innovation. This program aims not only to motivate young talent but also to spur the digital and intellectual transformation of the entire industry. By fostering the creation of digital tools and research initiatives, the company seeks to elevate current technologies and support the overall advancement of digital intelligence.
Investment in Talent Development
Recognizing the importance of long-term development for their staff, Shanghai Electric has implemented comprehensive training programs for all employees, covering managerial, technical, and skilled worker levels. In 2024 alone, the company invested approximately
107.84 million yuan (about
15.03 million USD) in employee training, reaching
98.61% of its workforce, with an average training duration of
3.4 days per employee.
The company has clearly defined competency requirements for all job positions and roles, aligning necessary skills and knowledge with the training courses provided through initiatives such as the
AIK curriculum and the
E-Academy online platform. Furthermore, Shanghai Electric became an officially recognized
Shanghai training base for young and mid-career engineers in 2024, and it was named the
Most Popular Employer for University Students in 2024 by 51Job, in addition to receiving the
Annual Award for Innovative Human Resources Management Practices 2024 from GHR.
Innovations in Patent Development
High-value patents play a pivotal role in establishing a globally recognized center for scientific and technological innovation. In 2024, Shanghai Electric hosted workshops focusing on these valuable patents, deepening participants' understanding of the subject and contributing to the development of high-quality intellectual assets. At the end of 2024, Shanghai Electric held
6,823 active patents, of which
3,276 were invention patents.

The company employs digital technologies to enhance the productivity of energy equipment while reducing operational costs.
