Hitachi Vantara Launches VSP One on Microsoft Azure Marketplace
Hitachi Vantara LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., announced the launch of its Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) Software-Defined Storage (SDS) solution on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. With this new introduction, companies utilizing Microsoft Azure can enhance their application development and business strategy formulation by leveraging Azure's scalability, reliability, and agility.
The Azure Marketplace functions as an online store where various applications and services compatible with Microsoft Azure are made available. This integration allows Hitachi Vantara's customers to efficiently manage and deploy data across the robust Azure cloud platform while ensuring high productivity and reliability. Organizations can now manage enterprise-class data systems bridging both Azure and on-premises environments, enabling simplified operations and optimal cost-management.
Addressing Critical Cloud Challenges
In the current landscape, firms are under increased pressure to achieve more outcomes with limited resources. According to research by IDC, 82% of companies using the cloud recognize the need for modernization, yet they face challenges such as skills shortages and complexity in managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This inefficiency, coupled with a surge in data volumes and low visibility within these hybrid cloud setups, can lead to billions of dollars in unnecessary expenditures, underscoring the need for automation, governance, and cost management solutions.
To tackle these issues, VSP One SDS adds Azure support, allowing organizations to simplify operations across on-premises and cloud environments through a single control plane for storage provisioning, management, and protection. The built-in storage efficiency features, including provisioning and enterprise-class data compression, can help reduce cloud storage costs by up to 40%. Additionally, bi-directional asynchronous replication strengthens disaster recovery efforts, improving uptime and recovery times following disruptions. These functionalities enable the seamless migration, testing, and scaling of workloads in a hybrid cloud environment, thereby accelerating DevOps cycles and supporting robust business continuity plans.
Octavian Tanase, the Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, stated, "Companies are being compelled to modernize their infrastructures without shutting down existing systems. By deploying VSP One on Azure, businesses can expand the value of their existing investments while achieving higher levels of resilience, efficiency, and simplicity. Our partner ecosystem plays a crucial role in helping companies modernize at their own pace, balancing costs and complexities while achieving flexibility."
With the addition of Azure support, Hitachi Vantara's customers and partners can plan and deploy their hybrid cloud environments more flexibly. Utilizing VSP One as a consistent foundation integrated with the Azure cloud allows companies to enhance their data protection capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and maximize the value of their existing Hitachi Vantara storage solutions. By combining seamless integration with the expertise and support necessary for efficient deployment and expansion, a more agile and resilient hybrid environment can be established.
Jake Zborowski, General Manager of Microsoft Azure Platform at Microsoft Corporation, remarked, "The Azure Marketplace generates revenues in the hundreds of billions each year while providing flexibility and economic value. We welcome Hitachi Vantara's introduction of VSP One. Collaboration between Azure Marketplace and partners like Hitachi Vantara enhances reliability in purchasing, promotes smarter spending, and leads to greater results with fewer investments."
A Unified Storage Solution
The VSP One platform offers a unified foundation for block, file, and object storage across on-premises and cloud environments. This approach fosters an integrated operational environment regardless of data location, addresses data silos, enhances visibility, and facilitates simplified operations within hybrid cloud contexts. Designed to achieve high availability, VSP One minimizes downtime while also reducing the need for additional infrastructure investments. The high reliability associated with this platform allows for native data mobility between different environments, ensuring business continuity without the need for re-architecture or redundancy.
These enhancements are part of an ongoing strategy designed to achieve centralized operations and simple management in distributed data environments, such as hybrid clouds.
Additionally, the VSP One SDS solution is set to launch in the Japanese market via Azure Marketplace on September 30.
