Residents commented on the direct train access to major areas like Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, and Shibuya, emphasizing the positive correlation between convenience and satisfaction.
Though highly rated overall, some local areas received kickback regarding distance from the nearest station and the limitation of train lines. Bus routes also received favorable mentions, showcasing a well-rounded transportation infrastructure enabling accessibility from multiple directions.
Ease of Living
Over 90% of respondents were satisfied with living ease, particularly praising the abundance of supermarkets, convenience stores, and drugstores in the vicinity of residential areas and stations. This indicates a well-developed lifestyle infrastructure, with many residents noting they rarely faced issues finding daily necessities and fresh produce, thanks to local agricultural sales. Furthermore, the balance between local shopping streets and larger commercial establishments enhances the living experience in the community.
Cost of Living
Results indicated that about 65% of residents are satisfied with the cost of living; however, approximately 35% felt displeased. The comments varied widely, with some attributing high prices to being in a metropolitan area while others voiced concerns over the rising costs of food and rental prices. Notably, the existence of affordable supermarkets and grocery stores allows residents to budget wisely, suggesting a mixed perception regarding living expenses.
Commercial Facilities and Entertainment
While about 66% of residents were satisfied with commercial facilities, 34% were not, indicating a need for improvement in this area compared to others surveyed. Large commercial complexes like Aeon in Hikarigaoka were among those praised; however, many expressed a desire for more entertainment options such as cinemas and gaming centers. Yet, the proximity to Ikebukuro provides an alternative that mitigates dissatisfaction regarding local entertainment.

Residents have observed that Nerima has a hard ground and is located far from larger rivers, significantly minimizing risks from tsunamis and floods. Overall Satisfaction
In the comprehensive assessment of livability, nearly 97% of residents conveyed satisfaction with the overall living experience in Nerima Ward. Positive remarks emphasized the dual advantages of being close to the city center while enjoying a rich natural environment. Families particularly draw attention to the numerous parks, zero waiting for daycare spaces, and a secure community atmosphere enhancing life for children. Seniors echoed similar sentiments, remarking on the tranquility and accessibility of medical facilities. However, residents expressed aspirations for increased entertainment options and commercial facilities, demonstrating their interest in further development.
Conclusion
The resident satisfaction survey showcases that Nerima Ward is a highly livable area, rated favorably across multiple aspects, particularly transportation access, safety, and disaster preparedness. While some areas present opportunities for improvement, the predominant satisfaction level reflects Nerima’s status as one of the most desirable locations in Tokyo's 23 wards, promising ongoing enhancement in living conditions to meet residents' needs.
