Spinogenix Honors Dr. Craig Erickson with a $17.25 Million Grant for Autism Research

The grant specifically acknowledges Dr. Erickson's groundbreaking research in Fragile X syndrome (FXS) and autism, which has been a focal point of his work for over two decades. Recently, Dr. Erickson led a Phase 2a study evaluating SPG601, a novel treatment for FXS, allowing the public to glean insights into the future of autism therapeutics.

As part of the funding, Cincinnati Children's Hospital will collaborate with a global network, known as Innovative Medicine and Precision Approaches to Clinical Trials (IMPACT). This initiative is noteworthy as one of only ten global sites selected to participate in this endeavor. The IMPACT network is charged with creating a comprehensive repository of deep medical data related to individuals living with autism. The culmination of this data aims to enhance clinical trials, leading to innovative treatment exploration.

Dr. Erickson will take on the role of principal investigator for the hospital's involvement in IMPACT. His studies will explore how electroencephalogram (EEG) technology can be utilized to refine the understanding of each child's biological framework. The output will ultimately direct the development of precision medicines tailored for autism spectrum disorder.
