Kavalan Distillery Unveils 15-Year-Old Whisky

Kavalan Distillery, renowned for its exquisite single malt whiskies, has introduced its first-ever 15-Year-Old Single Malt, signaling a significant milestone in its whisky-making journey. This limited-edition release is a crucial addition to the brand's portfolio, which has been shaping the global whisky scene since its inception.

A Milestone in Time and Craftsmanship

The introduction of this limited-edition whisky on March 11, 2025, commemorates the 19th anniversary of the distillery's first spirit distillation in Taiwan. Hailing from the heart of the subtropical climate, this whisky has been meticulously matured in four distinct cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry casks, Ruby Port, and Puncheon. This innovative maturation process not only reflects the distillery's commitment to quality but also pays homage to its roots in whisky craftsmanship.

CEO YT Lee expressed that this whisky was blended using selected reserves from older whiskies housed in the aforementioned casks. “Our goal was to create a deep, balanced, and complex flavor profile characteristic of a matured whisky. By utilizing the essence of each cask type, we maximized the flavor potential of every component, achieving a harmonious final product,” Lee stated.

Flavor Profile

The Kavalan 15-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky exhibits a beautiful golden caramel color, promising a sensory experience from the first glance to the last sip. On the nose, the whisky highlights aromas of caramel apple foam, fresh chocolate, cinnamon rolls accompanied by walnuts, and creamy popcorn, intricately woven with subtle hints of dried mandarin peel and plums. The enticing sweetness of caramel and hints of black date fruit create a lingering, indulgent sweetness that captivates the senses.

On the palate, fresh citrus notes of bergamot, lemon, orange, and grapefruit intertwine gracefully with the sweet taste of dried cranberries, raisins, and longan. This beautifully transitions into velvety tones of bittersweet chocolate ice cream and caramel-nut-coffee foam, culminating in a comforting warmth reminiscent of woody cinnamon.

Innovative Packaging

The packaging of Kavalan’s 15-Year-Old whisky is equally impressive. Inspired by wood, the design symbolizes the depth and maturity of the whisky inside. The bottle's structure reflects the concept of a 'fusion' crafted from four types of barrels, showcasing textured oak patterns that represent each cask's unique characteristics. Enhanced by a gold foil logo, the packaging evokes a sense of luxury and sophistication, perfectly embodying the refined essence of this special whisky.

This coveted 15-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky is set to take the market by storm, with only 30,000 bottles available globally. Each 700 ml bottle contains an alcohol content of 43%.
