ZTE Earns Elite CDP Climate A List Recognition for the Third Consecutive Year

ZTE Earns Prestigious CDP Climate A Rating for Three Years Running

In a remarkable achievement, ZTE Corporation, a leading integrated solutions provider in the information and communication technology sector, has once again earned an 'A' rating for climate protection from the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project). This accolade places ZTE among the elite top 4% of companies worldwide recognized for their outstanding environmental initiatives.

ZTE's Commitment to Environmental Excellence

ZTE's placement in the CDP Climate A List marks its third consecutive year of receiving this prestigious distinction. Notably, ZTE is the only company based in mainland China to have achieved this feat consistently over the last three years. This recognition not only highlights ZTE's robust international standing in environmental policy but also underscores its essential role as a leader in promoting the global transition towards a low-carbon economy.

The CDP is a significant international platform for environmental information disclosure. It has developed a globally recognized evaluation system to assess companies on their climate protection efforts, transparency, and overall performance. Many investors and procurement professionals rely on these assessments when making strategic decisions. In 2025, over 22,100 companies, representing more than half of the global market capitalization, submitted information on climate change, forests, and water security through CDP. Achieving the top rating of 'A' indicates that ZTE excels in climate governance, goal setting, effectiveness of measures taken, and risk management.

Key Areas Influencing ZTE's High Rating

ZTE integrates green and low-carbon principles deeply into its development strategy by focusing on four primary areas: green operations, green supply chains, green digital infrastructure, and green empowerment. Through these avenues, ZTE is paving a 'green digital path' that assists various sectors in expediting their green transformation.

Green Operations

In terms of green operations, ZTE has implemented numerous energy-saving and emissions reduction initiatives. These efforts led to an absolute electricity savings of 45 million kWh. When compared to the previous year, ZTE has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 13.4%. The physical emission intensity of its telecommunications products has similarly declined by 8.39% during the usage and maintenance phases. Notably, the total emissions across the product lifecycle have decreased by 5.02% year-on-year.

Green Supply Chain

ZTE has incorporated green innovation criteria within its IT systems for supplier management. The company has conducted audits concerning corporate social responsibility with over 450 production suppliers. Additionally, ZTE has assisted 152 suppliers in establishing carbon dioxide (CO₂) inventories and has guided 51 suppliers in setting and implementing CO₂ reduction targets and strategies.

Green Digital Infrastructure

Currently, ZTE holds more than 800 green patents, contributing significantly to environmentally friendly technological solutions. The company has performed CO₂ assessments for 240 products across all categories. These eco-friendly comprehensive solutions enable global operators to save more than 10 billion kWh of electricity annually.

Green Empowerment

By leveraging cutting-edge technologies like cloud solutions, IoT, big data, and AI in traditional industries, ZTE has enhanced its commitment to facilitating both development and emissions reductions. The company has formed partnerships with over 2,000 leading enterprises across 18 sectors. These include steel, metallurgy, electronics manufacturing, ports, rail transport, mining, and energy, generating more than 100 innovative application scenarios.

Recognition and Future Aspirations

ZTE's long-term dedication to sustainable development has been consistently recognized. The Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has officially approved ZTE's short-term target of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, along with its long-term net-zero aspirations. The company has also received a Gold Medal rating from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 4% of evaluated companies globally.

An active participant in the UN Global Compact, the Global e-Sustainability Initiative, and the COP29 Green Digital Initiative, ZTE is set to continue playing a vital role as a 'driver of the digital economy.' By collaborating with international partners and customers, ZTE aims to further its contributions toward combating global climate change and building a sustainable, better world.
