About Mai Murakami

Mai Murakami, born on August 5, 1996, in Kodaira City, began her gymnastics journey at the age of three and went on to become one of Japan's most celebrated gymnasts. She made her mark in gymnastics history by winning gold at the 2017 World Championships in the floor exercise, becoming the first Japanese female to do so in 63 years. At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, she achieved a remarkable fifth place in the all-around competition and claimed bronze in the floor exercise, making her a role model for aspiring gymnasts around the world.
