Natural Grocers® to Close Tucson Store at Broadway and Kolb Creating New Opportunities

Natural Grocers® Announces Store Closure in Tucson

Natural Grocers®, the well-known retailer of natural and organic products, has officially declared the closure of its Tucson store located at Broadway Boulevard and Kolb Road. This announcement comes as part of the company's strategic planning and performance assessments of its various locations. The last day for customers to shop at this particular store is set for December 11, 2024.

Starting from December 3, a store-wide clearance sale will kick off, with discounts reaching up to 25% on various merchandise, including dairy, frozen, grocery items, and fresh produce. Customers can also expect a 10% discount on all other items, which includes supplements and body care products. It’s important to note that all sales during this period will be final, as the store aims to clear its inventory before shutting its doors.

As highlighted by Kemper Isely, one of the Co-Presidents of Natural Grocers, this closure is a strategic decision influenced by several factors. Specifically, the lease for the location is nearing expiration, prompting the need for re-evaluation of store operations. Isely also mentioned the challenges that have impacted store performance and noted that the market in Tucson is becoming increasingly saturated, necessitating this difficult decision.

Despite the closure, Natural Grocers maintains a positive outlook on its future operations in Tucson. The company operates a total of 12 locations across Arizona and has plans to continue its services at other stores in the city, including those at River Road, Broadway and Country Club, and Oracle/Orange Grove.

“While this decision was not made lightly, we believe it serves the overall efficiency and performance of our remaining locations,” Isely stated. He also expressed gratitude to the customers who have supported the Tucson store over the years and reassured them that the company remains committed to serving the community through its other outlets.

In preparation for this transition, Natural Grocers is actively working with its employees affected by the closure. The company is committed to providing support, including potential job transfer opportunities and transition packages, which will encompass severance and health benefits. This approach underscores Natural Grocers' dedication to its workforce, ensuring that crew members are taken care of during such changes.

Established in 1955, Natural Grocers has earned a reputation for its commitment to offering high-quality natural and organic groceries, body care, and dietary supplements. Known for its strict quality standards, the retailer emphasizes products free from artificial ingredients and adheres to premium sourcing practices, ensuring that customers receive only USDA-certified organic produce and pasture-raised dairy products.

With the closure of the Tucson store, Natural Grocers continues to demonstrate its resilient approach in the retail landscape, focusing on long-term sustainability and operational efficiency. Customers looking to shop for their organic and natural products will still have access to nearby stores, ensuring that their needs are met in the community. Natural Grocers remains focused on its mission, emphasizing the importance of customer loyalty, community involvement, and a commitment to ethical retail practices.
