As Valentine's Day approaches, sweet lovers in Tokyo will be thrilled to discover a delightful offering at the renowned Kamon-no-Ko in Asakusa. From February 1, 2026, this traditional crepe specialty shop will unveil its limited edition Valentine's creation: the Rich Chocolate and Morello Cherry Hojicha Crepe.

For just ¥1,800 (tax included), dessert enthusiasts can indulge in this exquisite treat, but act fast! Only 30 units will be available daily, ensuring a truly exclusive experience.

Origin of Kamon-no-Ko

Kamon-no-Ko is not your ordinary crepe store. It is the brainchild of Taiki Kawagoe, a seasoned pastry chef known for his managerial roles at some of the world’s finest patisseries, including Pierre Hermé and Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse. Emphasizing a modern twist on traditional desserts, Kamon-no-Ko is dedicated to creating a unique Japanese culinary experience.

A Closer Look at the Special Crepe

The star of the Valentine's menu, the Rich Chocolate and Morello Cherry Hojicha Crepe, is a masterpiece that elegantly combines flavors. It starts with a Forêt Noire base made from high-quality cherries sourced from Germany and France, making the crepe both sophisticated and indulgent. The pairing of roasted hojicha tea with a generous amount of rich chocolate results in a decadent flavor profile that is both bold and aromatic.

One of the standout features of this crepe is the inclusion of a tuiles made from luxurious Valrhona chocolate, elevating each bite. A syringe filled with Morello cherry puree allows customers to customize their dessert, enhancing the flavor with a delightful burst of cherry essence, complemented by the sophisticated aroma of Kirsch, a cherry brandy. Customers have the option to omit the Kirsch if they prefer a different flavor experience.

Presentation: A Visual Feast

The crepe is beautifully adorned with a asanoha pattern, created using hojicha powder, which not only adds to its visual appeal but also hints at the rich chocolate and hojicha flavors waiting to be discovered. The dough and custard incorporate award-winning Kakegawa hojicha, known for its exquisite aroma, ensuring that every bite is a celebration of the senses.
