Introducing the Longchamp x Gloverall Collaboration Collection: A Fusion of French and British Craftsmanship

Longchamp x Gloverall: A Celebration of Craftsmanship

On September 2, 2025, the world will witness the launch of an exciting collaboration between Longchamp and Gloverall, bringing together the rich craftsmanship of France and the UK. Longchamp, an iconic Parisian brand established in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, teams up with Gloverall, known for its heritage in outerwear, to create a collection that embodies a unique sartorial legacy.

This collaboration shines a spotlight on the Le Roseau, a distinguished bag launched in 1993, which means 'reed' in French. Its design draws inspiration from the flexible bamboo toggle that has become synonymous with the Longchamp brand. By reinterpreting this iconic element with Gloverall’s expertise in duffle coats, the collection refreshes familiar styles through a new lens, capturing the essence of both brands and their commitment to timeless craftsmanship.

The duffle coat, emblematic of British style, was established in the 19th century as the Royal Navy's uniform, designed for practicality so sailors could fasten their coats even when wearing gloves. The toggle and rope fastenings characterize this beloved outerwear, which has won the hearts of icons ranging from General Bernard Montgomery to creative geniuses like Jean Cocteau and Stanley Kubrick. Celebrities like Brigitte Bardot, Liam Gallagher, and Alexa Chung have embraced the duffle coat, showcasing its enduring appeal that transcends trends.

In this special collaboration, the two shades available for the duffle coat—Navy and Nutmeg—are meticulously crafted from the finest wool fabric by artisans based in Gloverall's London atelier. The coat features a relaxed cut, a high collar, and a spacious hood, completed with a maple wood 'bamboo' toggle from Le Roseau. Surprisingly, the interior is lined not with traditional check patterns, but with a subtle stripe reminiscent of the French marinière, adding a playful twist that’s known only to the wearer and the craftspeople involved.

Alongside the duffle coat, the collection includes a tote bag made from the same fabric and equipped with the distinctive 'bamboo' toggle. This tote also features a leather inner pocket adorned with a special label. Originally designed over 30 years ago, the Le Roseau bag, defined by its functionality for the modern woman, echoes the craftsmanship and innovative spirit that has marked both brands through decades.

Creative Director Sophie Dela Fontaine emphasizes, “Longchamp has always been dedicated to craftsmanship that goes beyond leather goods. This season, we return to our roots to communicate the story of the Le Roseau bag, inspired by the toggle from the duffle coat in partnership with the true artisans at Gloverall. Every detail, down to the Tricolor and Union Jack flags on the label, has been meticulously discussed to reflect our shared values.”

General Manager Ivana Klachova adds, “The passion for tradition, craftsmanship, and timeless style—our collaboration with Longchamp reflects the values shared by both maisons. It celebrates the creative encounter between these two historic brands as they reinterpret their icons.”
