Draft Plan Bay Area 2050+
In a significant move towards addressing the transportation and housing needs of the Bay Area, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) alongside the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) has revealed the Draft Plan Bay Area 2050+ and its accompanying Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR). After two years of extensive discussions and technical refinements, the document is now open for public review.
Vision for the Future
The plan serves as a roadmap for the Bay Area's development over the next 25 years, designed to oversee growth and investments across the region's nine counties and 101 cities. With the goal of creating an affordable, interconnected, and thriving environment, the Draft Plan outlines
35 strategies focusing on public policies and investment priorities. These strategies aim to:
- - Increase housing availability
- - Minimize commute times
- - Enhance urban vibrancy through vibrant downtowns and natural spaces
- - Safeguard residents against natural hazards
- - Bolster economic growth and maintain stable housing
Public Involvement
As part of the public engagement process, MTC and ABAG are organizing multiple webinars and hearings where stakeholders can voice their thoughts and concerns regarding the Draft Plan and its environmental impact report. These forums will provide an opportunity for agencies, organizations, and residents to learn more and discuss how these strategies could affect their communities.
